chitownsportsfan
I come from the future: He'll re-injury the forearm next year and have TJS.

Iriarte may get first crack, but I would be shocked if he is any good. Maybe B. Wilson? I wonder if this hastens Schultz’s timetable to July or something. Crazy all the TJs. Schultz is really stinking it up at AA. Tons of hits and wild as hell to boot. That makes me worried. A guy as dominant as he is just doesn't lose it at Birmingham without a reason. He has gone 75/84/82 pitches in his three starts. Before this season his career high was 67 pitches in one outing. The 241 pitches he has thrown over three outings are 50 pitches more than his previous total over three starts of 191 pitches. Keep in mind he was also schedule to throw every 7 days last year. This is exactly why I was so skeptical about his being ready for the majors this year. He still needs some major conditioning even to be a 5 inning starter on a every 5 day basis in MLB.

I wouldn't be mad if they pushed his debut to early next season. Same with Smith.

Just based on getting the guy into the 100 pitch per game, 130-150 innings per season, we should be talking about September of 2026, or maybe even mid 2027. Hagen Smith at least has high level college experience working deep into games. Looking at his college experience he was going six innings most every start. He got over 100 pitches three times, and over 90 ten of his sixteen starts. I worry less about his conditioning.

First they have to be ready to pitch in the majors, and I think that despite being at similar levels, that Hagen is probably a year ahead of Dutch.
Timmy U
Possible the next guy up will be Schweitzer. If he’s around 95 with the fastball, the other stuff will play. Not a huge prospect like Smith or Schultz but could be a decent back end option.
