We already have a game thread. And there's  a "That's a Sox winner" thread from yesterday that's four pages.  Just examples of how we just WANT and enjoy some wins. We want to be excited; we want

After a couple good 0-2 takes, I would have appreciated a two out single from Pantera there.  The offense, as bad as it is, isn't as bad as I thought.  It's not only NOT the worst ever, it isn't even the worst in MLB.  As of today:

25/30 in runs scored per game (3.52).  By comparison, the Guardians are 23rd in runs scored per game (3.81) and they have an 18-13 record.

Before the game, I was going to post about the team overall so far, but I didn't get the research done in time.

Not often scoring late hasn't helped either...compared to their proclivity for scoring early in those first three innings.

Part of that is the relative dominance of most big league bullpens with wipeout stuff.

Just bad enough to lose a lot.

Not horrific like last year...and that was with Crochet and Fedde.

That's only recently it's improve a bit going from a team batting avg of .203 to .213.

Subsequently the defense has been worse lately. The bullpen has been consistently as inconsistent as the hitting and defense.

The Sox and Guards have the same run differential coming into today (-24).

Sox lose close games and win blowouts, Guards are the opposite.

Ok good, I thought it was just me. The Jenks tidbit sucks.

Vaughn refusing to walk

Rowand is gone. Totally wasted.

.500ish in one run games then the Sox are 11-20 or 12-19.

More like a 60-102 team than 41-121.

Small steps.

But Guardians are second place in the division with similar RS/RA numbers.

Close and late is interesting:

Pitching: dead last in WHIP (1.75)

Hitting: near the bottom (but never last) in AVG, OBP, SLG, and OPS.  Surprisingly, the offense is 19/30 in runs scored 7th inning and later.  They can score more late than one would think.

If the bullpen gives up 2 or more in a close game, the team will likely lose.  But that's true of a lot of teams.

I don’t know how much longer they can go with him especially with Elko tearing it up in Charlotte.

And that's without Clase and Cam Smith being the two best relievers in the AL last year.

We are actually playing pretty well as far as doing things talented teams do

Feels like another week or two...on a contender like Burger with Rangers would already be optioned.

Bill Walton minus the liquored up part.

Seems a veteran pitcher would be getting more of these 50/50 calls.
