Tyler Osik’s tweets about Vaughn being lazy are more than likely true. His makeup is obviously weak if he had all the talent in the world and doesn’t care to work extra in the offseason trying to improve his game. There is only one more arbitration year of control over Vaughn at a salary of over $6 million. I don’t see the point in giving him any more chances. He’s officially a bust. He was a position player drafted by the Sox so this should be no surprise. He also isn’t returning anything in a trade. Getz needs to accept it and give someone else his at bats. I believe both James McCann and Tyler Osik are right. McCann probably did see Vaughn hitting the cages regularly, and Osik probably didn't. I'm not going to make pronouncements about Vaughn's "makeup" and whether he's officially a bust or not based on that. I didn't want Vaughn on this roster, and I'd be happy with a Vaughn for Elko swap, but I also understand it's all not that easy. They have guys on the roster for reasons. They can't just cut 6 guys and promote 6 others. Vaughn's probably got until Memorial Day, or whatnot, to go on a heater. It's frustrating to watch Palacios and Vaughn in the lineup every day, but that's most likely their plan. Palacios has until Tauchman returns, then he's gone. Chris Getz either set a record, or came really close to doing so, for most players used on a major league roster last year, and it doesn't seem like there is much less churn so far this year. The absolute last excuse that needs to be used here is that Getz just can't churn the roster. He churns this roster like an Amish making butter. They can send Vaughn down since he has options. They don’t have to lose him.

DFA Amaya, Gray rostered. 25 They probably don't want to do a bunch of DFAs and other moves until it's at least for Lee and Workman next week. The only people they can DFA are on the 26-man.
