Baldwin, Teel, and Lee have all homered in the first inning for Charlotte.

Colson with a walk and groundout. Groundout was 108mph

Grounded out again this time at 109mph. He’s crushing the ball, but right at the 2b

Teel having a huge night

Is this what they mean by gap to gap? 😏

UDFA 23yo LHP Grant Umberger was nasty today. 6IP, 0ER, 2H, 0BB, 11 (!!!) K.

Two singles from the first two batters, then he just mowed guys down for 18 consecutive outs.

Kanny won 4-0.

Don’t know what he did in Arizona but he has looked significantly better since coming back.

Pallette turned in a 4 out save for his 9th straight scoreless outing.

Hasn't given up a run since April 22.

In that stretch: 11.1 IP, 0 ER, 6 H, 3 BB, 18 K and 6/6 on saves.

Barons won 4-2.

Pallette gave up 2 homers early this year. Ever since he's been nails. I hope someone  with influence is paying attention.

It's ok....if he's making contact and high EV it will eventually find the holes. This is good. Alot better than 3 Ks a game.

I saw that several of Colson's hardest hit balls after his return were against pitches over 95.  His inability to handle velocity was a huge issue previously.   Really like that Teel's second homer was off a lefty.  His first was off a righty that he took oppo which I also like.

Pallette just so much better out of pen.  To a lesser extent, the pen may save Dalquist and Kelley.

Is Shane Murphy becoming something?

Colson has the third-lowest whiff rate on Charlotte's squad since coming back from AZ (only Fletcher and Julks whiffing less; the whole team has a very high whiff rate, FWIW). Downside is his xwOBA in that period is just .304. Just not getting any of the slug. EV looks alright and launch angle is pretty high, but not combining them quite the right way I guess. I'm inclined to be patient with him since he's clearly addressing the swing and miss issue.

He hasn't seen a lot of >= 95mph pitches since the return, but Colson's whiff rate is very low against them which matches BamaDoc's observation. Has made some hard in-play contact on those heaters. FWIW, Kyle Teel has had virtually no production against high velocity besides working some walks. Very high swing and miss rate, virtually no good contact. This is something that has not improved during this recent period of improved hitting for him. Elko and Quero didn't do very well on those pitches either (makes it unsurprising that MLB pitchers have tried beating Quero with heat in the majors).
