Hell they have some of the smallest number of them in MLB. There there's the development part.

Id be worried getz or others would find out. Imagine if Jimmy or james fox did a story on the sox scout/car dealer who has been posting inside information like jeremy haber being fired/all the draft room leaks etc. 1

It seemed unimagined to take another lefty pitcher with an awkward delivery. The org seems to do well with those guys, and Hagan fits the mold, so let’s wait and see with him. But Jac was clearly not a Vaughn clone, and seemingly the best player available to us. I hope he kills it with the Royals. I think our Smith is gonna be good too, despite his walks, but those two positions players (sans Braden who we got) seem like they will be quite good. I like wetherholt particularly, seems like his injury concerns are a paper tiger. I like the pitcher pick here using the information there was out during draft time. Yes, hitters are "safer" generally but this was a quite weak year for college hitters. Everyone but bazzana had some question marks -condon: whiff -wetherholt: injury -cags: chase Considering how the sox did succeed with similar pitchers in the past and how they even struggled to make "safe" college hitters work (see vaughn and madrigal) I can see why the sox didn't want to take a rather raw huge power guy who has some chase issues. How confident can you be that the sox develope such a hitter properly? Edited June 6 by Dominikk85

Autumn Dreamin
Cags 0-4 with 3Ks today. Slashing .171/.218/.280 through 82 AB with 2HR (both in the same game), 4BB, and 20K. It's a huge jump for almost everyone, even top prospects. 1
Timmy U
Nick Kurtz is doing a pretty darn good job of making the jump. 12 HR and an .840OPS. Does not have the aggressive approach that Cags will have to tame.

I kind of wonder if playing half your games in a minor league park does anything to help the adjustment (beyond the physical difference). He has torn up the minor leagues. We all know the Sox are desperate for bats. There can be no desperation in 2025 for anything specific. All that matters is the long run big picture. Stock talent, any position. Don’t overthink it.
