The way this got huge coverage in the press AND because the Sox have had several black eyes in the national media over the years with fan incidents, I doesn't surprise me that they felt they should take quick, strong action.   People are still talking about the belly fat shooting incident (especially with Jerry being deposed now) and it took at least a decade for the franchise to live down the Ligue incident.  Yeah, there are idiot fans everywhere and at pretty much any MLB park, but the Sox image has really been hit hard in the past by fan incidents.

To me, the shooting in the park is an exponentially bigger story and it felt like it quickly got swept under the rug.  Still no idea how that wasn’t one of the biggest sport stories in years.  If our fanbase or baseball fans in general should be enraged about something, that was the event that should have set them off.  I was at that game with my two young sons and I’ve practically grown numb to the fact there was a woman there who snuck a gun into the park through her fat rolls.  It raises so many questions that deserve answers and yet to this day those accountable have skirted any repercussions.  Just a wild difference between that story and this one.

I think you mean that he's going to get the same treatment that anybody who offers an opinion in public considered controversial usually gets. Like, the dudes who online tortured the women of the Ghostbusters remake weren't acting on  moral superiority. I'm sure a lot of the guys acting out over this aren't doing it in defense of the good names of all mothers.

That movie was truly awful, regardless of how “woke” it was.  🤣

That is a bizarre theory for what may have happened. No one saw a gun and no weapon was seen by fans, captured on video, or recovered.  Skin and fat do not impact metal detectors. Just ask anyone who had joint replacement and tried going through one.

I didn’t make up that theory and speculation is that a metal detector likely went off but security couldn’t find the cause and decided to let the woman through.  As for no weapon being seen or found at scene, it was likely still in the woman’s fat folds when it was accidentally discharged and probably stayed there when she quickly left thereafter.

Out of curiosity, what is your theory on the matter?

Typically when the Sox have big crowds there are occasional incidents.

The metal detector didn't go off.

My opinion is that Plaintiff's case should have been dismissed on a Motion.  There is no set of provable or even plausible facts that would create liability for the White Sox.

Never forget, the burden is on <Plaintiff> to prove her case, not the White Sox ....or me, lol.

As far as the animosity toward Chicago public school teachers I have an idea where that comes from but I'll let you explain that.

So, this teacher brings a gun to Comiskey because she thinks Sox fans are insane, or did her students make her feel everyone is insane, so she's strapped everywhere, not just at the game.

Not sure if you’re American, but guns are literally everywhere and oftentimes they are brought into places they shouldn’t be.  My brother in law brings his Glock into the movie theater because he’s fucking paranoid like half this country.  It’s wild to think someone would try to sneak a gun into a sporting event, but there are plenty of dumbasses out there who don’t think before they act.  It’s why every once in a while you hear about someone getting caught by TSA trying to sneak a handgun through at the airport.

The plaintiff claims to have been shot in the stadium and has the wound and a casing to support their claim…not sure what other burden of proof is needed here.

Also, what animosity have I shown towards public school teachers?  No idea what  you are talking about there.

The story that keeps on giving. As stated once or twice before, I was seated a few sections away in left field because I thought LuBob was gonna hit a homer that night and I was gonna impress my date by catching it and giving it to a child. Instead, Cease gave up like 7 runs in 4 innings and future Sox legend Ryan Noda hit a bomb.

Anyway, I dunno what the team or police should've done differently. Announce that there's a shooting and the game is canceled? Seems like a good way to get more people hurt as they make a mad dash to the exit to avoid being the next victim of a mass shooting. The only commotion I noticed was an "enhanced security presence" and I just assumed some drunken fans got into a fight with each other which seems to happen at every other game I go to.

Hope there's some resolution one way or another. The "fat teacher" theory is objectively funny and very American (overweight, armed, paranoid), don't necessarily love the fear-mongering theory of "it was teenagers who shot a magic bullet that defied gravity, went through walls, took a couple turns, and was perhaps guided by a remote control". If angsty teenagers had access to this technology, society would've collapsed by now.

Back to the topic of idiot asshole fans insulting the mother of someone on the field, this is exactly what got Mr. Met fired.

And this article even has a quote from the Sox latest washed up former star acquistion:

Last season, Mets ace Noah Syndergaard said he was terrified of Mr. Met and his wife, the appropriately named Mrs. Met. “They’re just creepy,”...

I read your link and thought it was an Onion article.  I’m still not sure…  🤣
