Chicago White Sox
As we hit the mid-point of the season, I thought it would be fun for the various contributors of this sub to share their updated Top 20 prospect lists. For this exercise, let’s exclude any players who have reached rookie eligibility thresholds. This would include Chase Meidroth, Edgar Quero, Brooks Baldwin, Sean Smith, Sean Burke, & Mike Vasil (all in pre-season top 30). Below is my mid-season Top 20 list and a handful of “just missed” guys. I’m sure some of these picks will be ridiculed and by all means flame away! CWS’ Top 20 List: Noah Schultz, LHP Kyle Teel, CA Braden Montgomery, OF Hagen Smith, LHP Caleb Bonemer, SS Grant Taylor, RHP Colson Montgomery, SS Drew Thorpe, RHP George Wolkow, OF Bryan Ramos, 3B Mason Adams, RHP Ky Bush, LHP William Bergola, SS Tanner McDougal, RHP Christian Oppor, LHP Jacob Gonzalez, SS Sam Antonacci, 2B Jeral Perez, 2B Javier Mogollon, 2B Samuel Zavala, OF Just Missed in No Order: Peyton Pallette, RHP Jairo Iriarte, RHP Wikelman Gonzalez, RHP Aldrin Batista, RHP Alexander Albertus, 3B Nick McClain, OF 2
bighurt4life
I like your list but think I’m probably higher on McDougal who has been lights out this year as well as Antonacci who in my mind is knocking on top 10 atatus although not there yet.

For me it just comes down to sample size. McDougal has been great so far and if he can finish the year at this pace, then I think he will be in the top 10 (especially with Teel at minimum graduating). The same applies for Antonacci, although I need to see more out of him as he’s not an overly tooled up player and the sample this year is even smaller.
Johno
What’s going on with Nick McClain?
caulfield12
After Teel and Taylor graduate...looks more like a #8-12 system, especially with the ongoing uncertainty over Schultz/Smith and the big hole in the system from #8-12 where only Wolkow is making any solid progress. Braden's also hit something of a wall in High A, and god only knows how Colson turns out at this point.

Boopa1219
For my list, I did not include players who made it to the majors. Noah Scultz Braden Montgomery Hagen Smith Caleb Bonemer Colson Montgomery George Wolkow Jacob Gonzalez Jeral Perez Tanner McDougal Christian Oppor Luis Reyes Sam Antonacci William Bergola Mathias Lacombe Adrin Batista Yobal Rodriguez Alexander Albertus Blake Larson Mason Adams Juan Carell I think the Sox have a top 12 farm system. So many guys made it to the majors this year already, I think they will add more talent in the draft and at the TDL. Looking at this list, they need to add some power into the system. They also need to ad some more talent in the middle of the diamond

McDougal & Oppor have made huge strides, Reyes and Lacombe both are exciting, and Larson has a big ceiling if he comes back from TJS surgery. Add in all the guys who have been hurt, including Batista, and there will be a lot of pitching throughout the system. We definitely need more high upside positional guys. There is a much better chance of signing some stars in free agency under Ishbia, but god only knows when he will actually take the reins. Until then, we need to be able to develop them and I’m not seeing a ton of guys like that after Montgomery, Bonemer, & Wolkow. There is pretty good depth in the IF, but those guys look more like average Major Leaguers at best, which is obviously great to have but won’t provide the impact we’re going to need to add to the lineup eventually. I tend to think like @Boopa1219 and leave off guys currently in the majors, so punting on where the hell you'd put Colson, my top 20 would look something like this: *Noah Schultz, lhp (AAA) Caleb Bonemer, ss (A) *Hagen Smith, lhp (AA) #Braden Montgomery, of (A+) Tanner McDougal, rhp (AA)& Javier Mogollon, 2b(A) *George Wolkow, of (A) *Sam Antonacci, inf (A+) Jeral Perez, 2b/ss (A+) *Christian Oppor, lhp (A+) Luis Reyes, rhp (A) *Samuel Zavala, of (A+)& *Jacob Gonzalez, ss-2b (AA) Bryan Ramos, 3b (AAA)@ *William Bergolla, 2b-ss (AA) Mason Adams, rhp (IL)& Mathias LaCombe, rhp (ACL) *Ronny Hernandez, c (A) *Ky Bush, lhp (IL - 60) Wikelman Gonzalez, rhp (AAA)@% @ indicates of 40 man. & indicates needs to be added to 40 man for Rule 5. % indicates reliever. I tend to penalize injured guys and relievers quite a bit. Love Batista, but I have him just out of the top 20. I could see flipping him and Wikelman. I am probably high man on Antonacci, but if anything, I'm afraid he is too low. I really really like that guy. I would place whoever they draft at 1-10 #5. Hopefully we get lucky with the homeless pitching signings, but we don't really have any big ticket items left to sell. This is where we have to hope our scouting can do something big. I think he’s one of those guys who has the preternatural ability to maximize his tools. Kinda like meidroth, his ability to hit for decent power, get on base and swipe bags exceeds his natural gifts. Excited to see how he progresses.

For the most part, these players are the product of the White Sox pillar-to-post. (B Montgomery the major exception re drafting). Gives a good idea of where Sox drafting/signing/development stands. Where would this group sit league wide..17-20? I'm also hoping that some of the big pitching (what appear to be) busts like Kelley, Dalquist, Palette can contribute in the pen at some point. While relievers don't help a system ranking much, they sure as heck help the team.

Pretty sure he has Thanks! He’s under 50 total innings pitched, so I believe he’s still eligible for prospect status under Baseball America’s methodology but technically would not have rookie status anymore to exceeding 45 days of service time.
