Vargas was a top 40 prospect, and we're starting to see why. This year: 239 batted balls 22% were opposite field = 53 12 were hits 12/53 = .226 So when he hits the ball to the opposite field, he has a .226 BA. This year he’s doing poorly, .230/.601 but still better than players such as Brooks Baldwin and sadly, Don Luis. When Fedde left the Sox he was the team’s best performing pitcher. 7-4 with a 3.11 ERA, 4.6 WAR. He may not regain that form, but if we’re talking potential value… Last year with the Dodgers Kopech went 4-0 with a 1.13 ERA. This year he’s pitched 7 innings with an ERA of 0. Currently he’s on the IL with right knee inflammation. Kopech still should be an ace. For them, we got Vargas.
