2025 Trade deadline rumors thread

Featured Replies

This could be a general discussion on whatever trade rumors are floating around, or in this case, a trade that I think sets expectations for somebody like Josh Rojas.

Someone has expectations for Josh Rojas trade market?

Robert is getting traded guys.  I don’t want to try to police what people can post about here, but debating the merits of extending Robert is an exercise in futility.  Jerry doesn’t want to pay him, t

Royals called up Devanney July 8th to make his ML debut. He promptly never appeared in a game. Now traded lol.

I don’t see the comparison or similar expectations being appropriate.  While the money isn’t a huge deal, Rojas is still earning $3.5 million — $2 million more than Frazier at $1.525 million.  Also, while Frazier isn’t having a great season he is hitting light years better than awful Rojas this year.  I would be surprised if any team out there even wants Rojas unless they are desperate for a backup infielder.

I doubt we even get someone as completely mediocre as 28-year old Devanney for Rojas.

They shouldn't, outside of an old rosin bag.

Perhaps a return like the Eloy to Orioles trade last year — someone like Trey McGough, a dude that retires from baseball the following year.  💩

My expectations is Josh Rojas gets released at some point.

That contract was literally lit on fire/flushed down the toilet.  Sweet dreams Getzy.

They're completely appropriate. Money can be made even pretty easily. And I'm sure other teams don't scout him by looking up his stats on B-R.com. Yes, only a team desperate for a cheap place holder or depth would be interested in Rojas. Rojas is a type, along with Frazier and Nicky Lopez. Backup utility IF, good clubhouse guy, relatively cheap.

Sure, maybe the type of “bad”.  Frazier is a step above guys like Rojas and especially Lopez.  And only our wizard GM who likes terrible slappy infielders like himself as a player traded anything of value for Little Nicky.  Getz was trying to appease his boss who announced to Sox fans that he lusted for a lineup of nine David Ecksteins.

Xrays came back negative on Suarez's pinky finger, good lord he was in pain from Shane.

Mully and Haugh joked on The Score this morning that the Sox were trying to sabotage the Cubs’ 3B trade target.

Imagine he gets traded to the Cubs and gets hit by Shane Smith yet again haha

You're the guy who proclaimed over and over that Gavin Sheets had zero value and would be "DFAed by a real organization", so I hope you understand me taking your opinion of any player with the appropriate grain of salt.

Chris Getz, begging the baseball universe for someone to take his overpay off his hands…

Being non-tendered isn’t close enough?

What did the Sox get and your dreamy GM for Gavin ?

Adding him to an already potent Cubs lineup would be downright destructive.

And what did Sheets ever do with the Sox?  He’s having a magical season with the Padres that I doubt he is able to repeat.  Also, the Padres signed Sheets to a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training, so quite honestly he did barely have any perceived value at the time.  No more than a Brandon Drury.

You’re the guy who prematurely proclaimed that Vargas was a 3 WAR player and Getz won the Fedde trade as a result, so I hope you understand me taking your opinion of any player with the appropriate grain of salt.

Exactly.  I didn’t choose to give Vaughn $6 million bucks and non-tender Sheets.  WestEddy’s favorite GM did, so why isn’t he ripping Getz instead of me?

Getz wearing plaid pants, white belt, loud shirt, green sports jacket, the modern day " Trader Jack"

It took exactly 3 posts in this thread.

f*** it, package Robert, Houser, a reliever, Lee and cash to the Padres since they seem to have interest in Robert and Lee and can probably pitching help.

For Sheets!  We still need a 1B.
