I believe he was traded by Milwaukee because he wanted to continue being a starting pitcher and they wanted to use him in the bullpen. As far as attitudes go that isn't so bad to still believe you can start.

That Durant trade left that team barren of talent and draft capital for some time. Is it fair to write to Boyer to b**** about the Comcast deal, where I had them on cable with the package I have, lost the channel and then they upped the package I need to watch the games on my cable package? And maybe see what progress could be made about getting the games on YouTube TV instead of watching them on the TV App or switching to another cable and internet provider which would be a pain? Beal was the real killer...

Let’s hope the Ishbias handle the Sox the EXACT same way they have handled the suns. They allowed their GM to spend like crazy to build a championship. They didn’t sign Beal or Durant or make the trades, they allowed their GM to space and money to do what they wanted to do. The result is on the GM, not the Ishbias 2

He's not taking business advice from Chris Getz. He knows his life is nearly over and he always said his sons would sell the Sox after he died. Getz was hired because he was right there and cheap . So JR probably liked him and he was a hire of covenience. I've said many times after the failed rebuild that once the Ishbias got involved JR entered into the estate planning phase of his life. The Ishbia's were minority owners with minimal invested but looking to buy a team so they made a play for the Twins but then JR said look guys if you rather buy the Sox than the Twins let's work something out because the Sox are worth more and we are more solvent than the Twins. So if JR was the key figure in the Ishbias being the next owners , I'd like to say thank you at least for that too. Not in a sarcastic way because it should mean the Sox will have very rich owners soon enough. Of course he does. But he’s about profit or winning which is the exact opposite of what he was saying when he bought the team. My biggest issue with him is refusing to hire people probably because he won’t be considered the real GM or player develop guy. Seems kissing the ring is more important, which is odd because he supposedly is a pretty nice man. Bulls fans have more to complain about. They actually show up, and the Bulls goal is NBA hell. Just dont pay the luxury tax. I wish him good health, but for the love of God, give up control of the team.

Pretty much like players exercising a deadline opt-out on a minor league deal or even declining a player option at the end of a season. There's a huge gap between that and players who are headaches to be avoided. If teams scouted Civale's last 3 starts, they'll see three strong outings where he was left in too long for one of them. Do we know this though? When he signed his contract, was there a clause in it that said he could only be used as a starting pitcher and not as a reliever? Okay, looking this up, I don't believe he had a contractual clause that stipulated how the Brewers would use him. Conversely, there don't appear to be any rules or penalties that disallow Civale from asking for a trade. I didn't even pay attention to whether the Brewers' front office was blind-sided by a request in the press, or if he just had his agent ask the team, then alluded to it in locker room press availability. My main point is that I don't really see how Civale requesting a trade should be seen as some sort of "bad behavior" on his part that other front offices might want to steer clear of. GMs are used to dealing with big egos, or guys who have routines they believe ensures their success.

Wouldn't a good teammate just be quiet and do what it takes to win for the good of his team and teammates?

If he was struggling as a starter and the team thought their top pitching prospect could do a better job, which he most definitely is now, Civale could be viewed as a “me first” player over doing what was best for the team. The entire league is made up of "me first" players. That's why free agency, arbitration and no trade clauses exist. If you guys want to run with this "selfish player" narrative, have at it. I see it as a player who needed a longer runway, and didn't see any opportunity, or a way out of a bullpen role.

I just laugh at this "narrative" only appearing for certain players, while they traded for others and say nothing. I am sure if there is dirt, we will hear it when he is dealt.
