Unfortunately, Tauchman misses too many games due to injury to be there everyday to fulfill that role.

A rebuilding team like the Sox should be giving those at bats to a young OF. Problem is, Getz hasn’t acquired any outfielders worth giving those at bats to yet, outside of a not ready yet Montgomery.

But these fill a hole filling signings are the things you celebrate with an 85 win team trying to eek a bit more out of a roster, and not a 41 win team looking to build a critical mass of kids to rebuild with.

I won’t speak for others but I said that while it is important, it isn’t the most important thing, especially for a team that is expected to be bad anyways. Afterall, what would a team without any veteran leadership do — set a record in losses and then follow that season up with another season on pace for 100+ losses? Oh dear, that would be tragic. 🤣
