Mead's  lack power seems to be his best feature.

He strikes out, he doesn't walk and he doesn't defend well.   Did anyone ffrom the Sox actually scout this player?

Another Getz trade on the other teams terms...maybe those 19th round pitchers will turn into something.

Couldn’t even hit for power in Tampa

Yep.  A rebuilding team should not be in the business of trading prospects for two mediocre 31 and 33 year old relievers.

Should just give Vasil a shot to start next year because he's not being utilized effectively by Venable in the pen.

  • Why would you put Teel at first?  He’s a possible all star catcher down the road?

Tauchman might have played himself off next year's team, especially if they think Jaden will be ready by May.

Home run return for Houser.

If Vargas is out the rest of the season, they need to stick Sosa and Teel there.

At least AustinDreamin didn't call Tyler Alexander a "home run" acquisition.

Not quite.

1. That's not my username.

2. Have I been some big Tyler Alexander cheerleader? I complimented him for covering 3 innings in a game thread last weekend because they're playing 17 straight with a taxed pen and needed innings....Are you going to chase up everyone who's ever said "nice game from Player X"?

3. Seriously, I don't really know what this schtick even is supposed to be but you've done it a couple times now and it's strange so I'd like to nip it in the bud here.

You said the White Sox should get more credit for fixing him, it wasn't just nice job/good job...based primarily on the start of his season with MIL.

Which I refuted point by point by taking a deeper look at what was going on when he started four games and gave up ten runs in two blowouts.

Now that's he is one again pitching in more high leverage...like Vaughn he is regressing to his 4.67 career ERA mean.

Fauske? I haven't heard that even being a possibility, would be amazing though

2 1/2 to 3 years away...

speaking of Milwaukee, they signed Fedde for some reason. He picked up the L the other night (didn't pitch terrible) in a long relief role.

How about bringing Elko up and give him some regular playing time.

Who's that ex Royals utility guy at third  who got Tim Anderson's knee hurt?

Vargas should have been at 3B in the first place..

Hanser Alberto. Guy was a bum.

Looks like you were right unfortunately.  Like I said, I doubt Getz hoodwinked the Rays of all front offices.

I think he meant Braden. All these zoomers have pretty much the same name. Jaden, Jayden, Braden, Aidan, Caden, Kaiden, Hayden, Raiden (I hope)

Just so he can stay in the lineup nearly every day...

It was not a good return for Houser, despite Houser pitching so poorly since.  But they weren't going to get much anyway; but to trade him for essentially an org guy from a team that Getz has been cozy with really annoys me.

They could bring Elko up.  Even if Mead hits well, it's not very good because of his lack of power and really high K rate (alarmingly high for someone with so little power).

It's time for Taylor to hit the bricks too.  Sox aren't learning anything from him.

Alexander is a placeholder; he and most of the 2nd string pen are soft tossers.
The Sox have enough fodder on the 26 man roster that they really could bring up several players for a look-see in September even without expanded rosters.

The minute the Sox didn’t trade him, he already did.  He has one more year of arbitration.  A cheap starting RF?  Jerry and Getz are in love.

Anyone see Schwarber’s 4 HR game?  Amazing to remember that the Cubs non-tendered him.

Meidroth better be playing his way out of next year’s starting plans.

Meidroth and Tauchman run at about the same speed...

Robertson has been on the MLB team but hasn't played! Should've put him out there instead of Taylor. Dom is also looking OK lately. Agreed, give these guys a look. s%*#, I'd even give Jacob Gonzalez a cup of coffee...unlikely to happen.

Similar to Ortiz getting dumped by Twins.

How old is Schwarber now? 32?

I didn't say the Sox should get more credit for fixing him, I said if the team splits were reversed then the difference would be chalked up to coaching because that's what generally happens when a player who struggles here goes on to play better somewhere else.

But I'm not interested in further discussion either way. Feel as "right" as you want about Tyler Alexander, just stop trying to "call me out" every time he gives up a run.

Yup was rooting for #5

Also:

Montgomery (side) remains out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.

is 'side' just a euphemism for back? I don't recall how he got injured

It’s not an oblique so who knows.  If it hurts swinging and fielding, then just IL him.
