You have to be realistic, Robert isn't bringing back a top 100 guy.

then you just keep him and hope he puts up 250/300/470 at which point he would coming July. If he doesn't oh well C'est la vie,

At no point do I ever want Matt Shaw on my team because I will always actively root against him.

There really are some anonymous shitbags on this website. Just a completely derailed thread full of utter nonsense.

I would trade him for a comp pick centered deal in a heartbeat. One of those picks with our bonus pool would be awesome. But who knows, we’ll have to wait and see.

yea that would be a creative move. we'll see how getz does. so far I think he's done a good job keeping his powder dry. obvious fringe moves have been made, some perhaps more impactful ones still to come but no rush. Hahn I felt always was compelled to move to move.  Sometimes better just to wait and see especially given our resources for MLB payroll.

MLBTR’s Steve Adams reported yesterday that Foster Griffin has spoken to eight different teams with varying interest levels in his services, while MLBNetwork’s Jon Morosi added that a deal could come together soon for Griffin. Which team will land the intriguing lefty?

Could use another lefty in rotation. Do we gamble on guys who sucked here and didn’t stints oversea for a second time this offseason? I think I’d prefer someone a little more stable but I guess if you’re paying what you paid Kay.

I like this move.  Hey, it's what we do.

Unfortunately, Getzie is still sitting at the kiddie table on this one.  😉

I think I’d rather see what our own arms can do than give this guy $5.5+ million anyways.

Any chance this guy signs for a lot less than was projected? Might be a good opportunity to get involved in.

There's a little chatter

But of course they'd have to be willing to sign the check

I think I picked him in whatever that thread was about off season signings dreams over a month ago. Okamoto likely to go for more. Don't they all have the same deadline ?

It depends on when they were posted. I think Murakami is first.

No, Okamoto's is in January. I think a window begins when they file.

Giants also reunite with fellow old friend Gregory Santos on an MiLB deal.

Different type of hitter, but lots of similarities to when we signed Abreu.  With the high K rate, I assumed he’d be too risky of a signing for us, but maybe that scares off a few teams and most of the big market teams have 1B in place right that might limit his market?  At minimum, it would add a fuckton of excitement for the franchise.

Everything I have seen has Murakami getting a lot more than Okamoto.

He is younger.

And he should. Okamoto is much older, and while he is probably the 'safer' immediate option, Murakami has much higher potential.

I would be excited if they sign Murakami, but I’m not going to hold my breath.

Yep, Okamoto is 29 already.  Meh.

Murakami is just 25 and will demand more money and years.

I doubt the Sox will be players for either guy.

Chatter is about all it is.  If you listen to the audio clip, it is total speculation without any sources just because the White Sox “have money to spend.”  Apparently the commentators don’t know that Jerry doesn’t want to spend any money.

Houser at 2/$22 demonstrates how strong the market still is for starting pitching.

But don't think the Dodgers are exactly quaking in their boots over this move from Posey.

Recently Valdez buzz has really fallen off and ...

Now attention's focused on Murakami Okamoto and Imai due to their signing deadlines...pretty sure Imai is around January 8th.

Out of curiosity, which teams are an actual threat for Murakami?  Of the high spending teams, maybe the Red Sox?  Most of the other ones are already locked in at 1B.  Maybe there is a second tier team that is desperate for a 1B upgrade, but the market for a big name 1B addition looks soft right now.  Again, it very much reminds of the situation when we got Abrue.
