Look at Ray Ray Run
Always liked Newcomb. Lot of risk with injury, and lack of success in this capacity, but I think he'll have a nice little run here in his thirties as a useful reliever though. A lot of base runners, so he'll be pitching out of jams with some frequency, but like his sinker keeping the ball in the infield as a reliever will help limit damage.

Sounds like Colome when he was the closer here. I loved following Colome on the gamethreads because people would freak out with his tight rope acts but damnit he got out of most of the jams he got himself into.

chitownsportsfan
Some strange ass stats last year. Had a HR/9 rate of .49 but a BABIP of .344. 1.7 bWAR but basically replacement level prior season. He's a reliever so yea, let's hope we get the middle case and he can provide 70 innings of around 3.25 ERA relief.

He generated a ton of ground balls last year as he changed his pitch mix and added cutter and greatly increased his sinker usage.
ChiSoxFanMike
I hope they don’t make him a starter again. He was much better out of the bullpen.
caulfield12
The White Sox have signed left-handed reliever Sean Newcomb to a one-year, $4.5 million contract. Newcomb found his footing in a relief role last season, posting a 2.73 ERA between the Red Sox and Athletics, including a 1.18 ERA from June 18 onward, but he is reportedly expected to at least have the chance to transition back into a starter. yahoosports.com Edited Wednesday at 08:33 AM by caulfield12
