The Marlins will be calling games from the dugout this season, and the Giants and Rockies might follow suit.

Kinda surprised there's not more consternation about it.

Also wonder what it does to the trade value of pitchers/catchers who end up with no experience calling games.

They can't use Pitchcom for it (yet?) so perhaps a savvy opposing team can find ways to quickly relay the calls to batters.

Interesting. Like all plays in the NFL called by the coaches not the QB like in the 80s

MLB 26-and-under power rankings, Nos. 25-21: Zach Neto, Trey Yesavage, Junior Caminero lead their teams' young cores

The Angels, Blue Jays, Twins, Rangers and Rays fill out the bottom third of this year's list...

White Sox in the Top 20 at least

Twins are reaching Sox levels of incompetence. They should have traded Lopez a long time ago.

You don't agree with their strategy of trying to extinguish a fire sale halfway through? 😅

Twins not being able to cash out on Lopez and Guards not being able to cash out on Clase are both potentially high impact non-moves for the division power balance. Skubal could join that list soon depending on how that shakes out.

Why they still have Joe Ryan, I have no idea. I’m all in favor of them letting him continue to rot there though.

Somehow skeptical that Angels fans have no interest in winning baseball

Angels' games and even LAD games until recently have always been quite affordable, at least compared to what you expected coming from Midwest.

But safety/security seems to be the buzz word of the day...that Orange County/Disneyland stretch is much safer in general than the majority of big city/urban environments.

Guess Moreno has given up on competing head to head with Chavez Ravine??

Merk's notes

White Sox prospect certainly felt his 1st spring HR: 'Reality hit there'

Quote

Cannon, who is battling for the one or two spots open in the White Sox rotation, was happy with his effort Friday. He allowed one run over 1 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking one. He was touched up on Seiya Suzuki’s home run in the first.

“Wanted to work on the two fastballs, sinker and four-seam,” Cannon said. “That’s kind of been a point of emphasis this spring, working on that sinker and kind of using both of those fastballs. And then just kind of dialing back in the offspeed command.

“I thought that could be better, that was just kind of the point of improvement going forward, could definitely be more in the zone a little bit more. But overall, I thought it was good, a lot to build off of, long spring ahead.”
