Good lord. Bears couldn't do that?

I'm guessing equivalent picks Colts are putting him to a spot he is more comfortable with. But he would have been worth this price for the Bears.

Unless they are getting Simmons I don't know much better moves than this one from a pass rush perspective. For example - I'm not giving up a 4th for Mack. Has to be like a 5th or 6th and you get the following round pick back for me to do it. Don't think it moves the needle much at all.

Irsay's daughter is making these trades?

Just curious.

Not sure there has been a better rumored defensive player available, especially with that low price tag.

I think this could be a case where the Colts also wanted to do right by the player and send him where he wants to go. Buckner clearly wanted to go back. I'm sure if the Bears offered something clearly better, they would have gotten him though.

Team don’t care

Holy overpay, Batman. That’s a lot to give up. At least those picks will be in the 20’s overall.

I updated my post. Still a lot to give up. Probably more than the Packers did for Micah Parsons last year. Not sure how that makes me a miserable human. Do you take opinions that differ with yours personally?

You can update whatever you want. Changing one post doesn't impact the other thousands of whining and complaining you do across the board. You are one the most active posters in this NFL thread alone, the Bears are 5-2 and in almost everyones Top 8 teams in the Power Rankings, and not sure I can remember a "positive" post from you.

My opinion is not dictated on disagreeing with you, it's based on the collection of posts you've published that make me reach the conclusion you're a very unhappy person.

Simmons is a game changer. Arguably the best DT in the league. Poles putting his nuts on the table.

This is huge. It frees up the rest on the line and backers. Plus more pressure means the secondary has less time they stay in coverage. It's a win win.

This is what you do in the NFL when your QB is on his rookie contract and your window is open. You try to win before you get cap blocked.

Not an overpay for a top 5 DT with 4 years left on his deal. Dude is a game wrecker and the Bears needed help at tackle.

My philosophy is I don't like giving B players B+ prices, I am ok giving A+ players A+ prices, and you just gotta hope you can make get B- production out of C/C+ players.

There was actually a ton that came out yesterday evaluating DT production on twitter. The bears were no doubt last in league. At best we get average production out of Grady Jarrett.

Simmons is that level A guy. Just think about how our whole offense goes through Darnell Wright. That's Simmons on d

And 4 years with the signing bonus already paid. What is left as non-guaranteed is super flexible to convert to signing bonus then no?

The happiest guy on the team has to be Montez Sweat right now. His suspension is going to be completely forgotten in all of this, he is no longer the focal point of the D Line, all of the opposing OLine will be moved to stopping Simmons instead of holding off Sweat.

It allows him to just be obscure lol

I think so. This year and next year are guaranteed (13m+27m), then salary is non-guaranteed in 2028-2030 with a void year in 2031.

This year he's basically owed what the Bears had left in cap space, so they can fit him. If they want to add more they'll need to make some moves though.

I also think Kyler running around the edge with a new worry of simmons up the middle is chef's kiss

It is clear now that dexter was a mistake to miss on though. He was so bad at run d last year, and he's now a top run defender as well.

QBs can no longer step up freely to avoid the edge rush because they should be getting heavy pressure up the middle. This defense should look a LOT better.

This is how I feel about baseball pitching too. B guys turn into C and D guys at B prices way too often.

For comparison sake, it looks like the Bears simply paid the price of poker IMG_8467.jpeg
