Autumn Dreamin
Lots of "first outing of spring" type performances from the arms, nice for the bats to be able to hit around it. 12 runs on 16 hits and 6 walks against 5ks (only 1 from the starters)

Could even be 5 if neither Mead, Hill ,Wade , Antonacci & Murray don't make the 26.
WestEddy
Camilletti and Tanner Murray trying to not get lost in the Antonacci-amore. Mead, Sosa and Baldwin with good-looking lines.

I don't think there's a spot for either of them.

Sox also 6 for 18 with RISP compared to M's 3 for 17. Edited 7 hours ago by CaliSoxFanViaSWside
WestEddy
Fegan's pre-game notes Pregame notes: Anthony Kay Cactus League debut - Sox Machine - Kay sits 93-95 - C. Monty to play Wed, Pereira still getting better - Venable wants Sosa to play more 3B - Mune and 10-D to get time at DH in-season, complicating Quero and Teel's DH time

Depends if they go with 3 catchers .OF should be 10D, Acuna,Baldwin, Hays maybe Hill. Tanner Murray's looked good so far. Kelenic & Peraira will get their looks too. Tanner Murray's looked good so far. They'd have to DFA or IL Pereira in that case. They're bringing Pereira back from his oblique slowly, so maybe he doesn't really play for a couple of weeks. MLBTR story today that the Yankees are looking for a RHH bat at catcher or OF. Korey Lee plays both!! Edited 7 hours ago by WestEddy

Wasn't sure who was playing 3rd for that one.

Should just eat Beni's salary and ship him to some team that needs a lefty platoon bat. Also, Sosa does not have the arm for 3B. We've been over this. He can hide it at 2nd. He can't at 3rd. He's a perfectly fine 2B defensively other than the brain farts, which aren't going to go away at 3rd. 1

He played negative defense, as per FanGraphs last year, but he was ranked 23rd out of 30. for 2B over 200 PAs. Not the absolute worst.

Not the absolute worst. He's like half a win below average at 2nd with the glove. I think he might be 3 wins above average with the bat at 2B. We'll see how he does. My thoughts on him at third are based on my own scouting of him on the 2024 Seattle trip. He played there that night and was a disaster. His arm just won't allow it imo.
Lip Man 1
Like the fact the Sox stole four bases. Don't like the fact they are letting Sosa a defensive liability play at third base (or anywhere in the field for that matter.) Guy is a DH. They like his bat except for his walk rate and are trying to make him more useful and/or tradeable . Guys can get better at D .

True they can but I don't know about the part when it comes to "baseball-intelligence" shall we say with him either.

Maybe that gets overblown too. I think with you have a mid 20s hitter capable of 30 HR's he needs time to get comfortable . But his value has to increase quickly as does Vargas' & Meidroth because more infielders are coming. Antonacci, Bonemer, Roch C*. & Carlson.( farthest away) * Not yet but a high probability.

That said, he is due to come out of the gate with a few hits.

The Sox had to trade Robert and his $20 million just to finish their offseason, which is sad enough as it is. No way is Jerry going to eat the majority of Benintendi’s $31 million remaining so he can play for another team for the next two years. joejoesox
as of right now, Sox have scored the most runs of any team in Spring Training (40). Yankees 2nd with 38, PIT with 37, SEA with 36

But the Sox still owe him $30 mill and it would probably take at least $20mill to move him. Madness!
