I feel like the Padres will be quick to go to their bullpen. It's a solid pen but this game is winnable if Kay can give us 5 innings of 2 run ball.

Unfortunately, it's highly improbable that Kay could pull that off, especially if they stack their lineup with righties.

Kay has been awful and his expected stats are even worse than his normal stats so it's prolly gonna get worse.

IMO, if they flew in Hagen overnight and he threw only 3 innings mixed in with a bunch of walks it still would probably be better than Kay. I expect SD's bats to finally come alive against him.

They started 9 RHH vs. Schultz in game 1, though I think normally they keep at least Merrill in.

But Padres haven't been great against LHP (<.600 OPS) despite being very RHH heavy by default.

Kikuchi went 6IP 0 ER 8K against them in his only scoreless start of the year (not counting the one he left early in Chicago).
