I recall I once attended a Marlins game in Miami, when Ichiro was playing there, and there were many Japanese press and TV and fans there for the game, and Miami is even farther than Chicago. The Japanese market for Ohtani is larger than the US market. The Dodgers make in excess of $100M in revenue from the media rights and merchandise sales in Japan....on top of their share of television rights all teams share. The Dodgers will make almost a half billion dollars more than Ohtani's 10 year contract.

Sox are the most interesting team in the division from a talent and future perspective right now, IMO, especially now that Skubal is out for a lot of the season and likely won’t be with Detroit after the season is over.

Northshore shopping? LOL. I never mentioned the Cubs, only the increased valuation of the White Sox which will begin to become apparent as the White Sox continue to become more competitive. You are sounding like you are so far up the Cubs/Joe Ricketts ass that we may never retrieve you. I hope the White Sox take that upcoming series with the cubs. Unless Fedde or Kay is starting we should be able to grab a game or two.

History has shown multiple times owners taking about 'being united' et al.

History also shows what has eventually happened.

But it takes two, to make a deal, and as has been stated recently by the acting director and history a salary cap is a non-starter for the MLBPA.

Anything can happen of course but the union agreeing to one would be jaw dropping.

I'm relatively optimistic about the Sox but I find the Royals to be pretty interesting. Witt looks like he's on track to be an inner circle hall of famer, for one. Maikel Garcia looks like a really nice building block, albeit with some risk that his bat ends up a little more in the average category. Carter Jensen is a really exciting young player even if he hasn't totally proven himself yet. I still have every expectation that Jac Caglianone is going to terrorize the Sox for years. Never trust a pitcher but Cole Ragans is a dude.

I suppose the main downside with that KC organization is that it appears basically all the big talent is already in MLB with no obvious reinforcements on the way from the minors. Some of those young big leaguers they still expect to take steps forward, but if they don't they won't have many fallbacks. So there's a lot of projection going on. They don't seem to have a great foundation for pitching going into the future, but I have a feeling most teams would look like that if you looked very closely.

Ragans has terrible numbers this year and the success rate long term for double TJS surgery pitchers long term isn't all that promising.
