Yeah, much better to hear JR for the last 45+ years, minus an aberration. Am I right?

I’ll be honest…I’d have been way more mad if we dealt Bonemer or Carlson for Detmers for this deal.

I was referring to this year. I would have said Castillo is good if talking about past years.

One of two things occurred. Either #1, they thought the Dominguez was worth his contract and it STILL cost them Smith, or Dominguez is worth less than his contract so it took a prospect the level 9f Smith to make it balance. 8f Castillo was a pure dump, Smith wasn't necessary.

I guess I just feel like the return was fair and reasonable and don't really see an issue with it.

-0.9 bWAR is worth twice Benintendi money?

But of course. But the question was could the Sox have sent less if they didn't include a bad deal to save money on Castillo.

Only the Shadow knows...

it will be a refreshing change when the White Sox are the team buying players instead of leveraging the farm system as per usual

Boston Smith with 3 HRs in 4 games in AA with Seattle 👍

Brutal…

Maybe James will apologize. 🤣

And don’t forget, Getz paid $2 million for Seranthony’s buyout and didn’t get any cash back from the Mariners. Pathetic.

When will the Sox finally understand that you don’t get better by acquiring old fucks? Baseball is a young man’s game.

I'm guessing they see it as Castillo being worth around $13 million next year which is basically what they're paying without Dominguez on their books.

So you're saying take all the money on Dominguez and Castillo and keep Boston Smith?

Apologize for what? I think Boston Smith is an interesting prospect. Was going to rank 15 for us. He's the 15th best prospect in a bottom 10 system right now. He can hit but I'm not sure if he has a defensive position and now he's in the ultra inflated PCL. I think he's probably a big league bench bat in the end.

Jimmy what is Mune's HR total with you in attendance? I thought I saw you say he has homered when you are at the Rate.

LOL good question. I saw him twice in Milwaukee and he homered both times. Saw him twice previously at The Rate and he homered the first time. He didn't homer against Hunter Brown that night but he obviously hit another last night. So I've seen him 5 times and he's hit like 4 homers.

Exactly. Attendance is up 25% Take on some money, save the prospect.

Fair point. I'd prefer that Seranthony Dominguez not be on the Sox anymore so I was fine with that part of the trade. We'll take Castillo and give you a middle of pack prospect if you also take Dominguez just seems fair to me, personally.

If we were a desperately overfinanced team that had to dump salary, sure

Agreed. I think people are considering him a top prospect (maybe subconsciously) because of the heater he has been on at the plate. I don’t think enough people are considering where he will play defensively.

Has anyone here actually seen Boston Smith play defense? I have not. You get a bat like that, you keep it. He minds me of Mike Piazza in his early stages. Now he's in the Hall. He might be a little rough around the edges on defense. So what? Mariners got what they wanted. For us, it's a stupid trade.

So what would you have done with Dominguez? Paid for him and Castillo? I'm just confused as to what fantasy land alternative is being proposed.

Of course they aren't considering that. He's the 15th best prospect in a bottom third system. It's fine.

This is insane.

I hope a few people are seeing this statement.
