August 3Aug 3 Southisene is the Cubs’ 10th ranked prospect per BA and Bateman is currently unranked (although 21st at Pipeline). The former is a former overslot prep pick in the 4th round ($1M bonus) who is likely limited to 2B and has literally zero power. Sounds like he has really good speed and is a patient hitter, but the upside looks incredibly limited to me. Seems like a pretty meh return. I think Boston Smith is a better prospect than both these guys.

The Teel injury simply made that addition unavoidable, but sticking with Romo & Quero would have been a mistake regardless.
