Thursday at 09:01 PM1 day I really think we will regret letting Pereira go. Still need a RH corner outfielder / DH option for next year and beyond.

That seems like a very risky move, coupled with the Pereira DFA. It straddles "balls in a wheel barrow" and pure hubris. As the late Mayor Harold Washington had said, "You know what Hubris is, don't you? That's audacity....Gone Wild!"
Thursday at 09:20 PM1 day Yea hard for me to want a guy around who was never here to begin with, and when he was around there was an awful lot of “wtf is he doin”
Thursday at 09:58 PM1 day I think MLBTR sums up the situation, nicely. Cardinals Claim Everson Pereira - MLB Trade RumorsPresumably, the rebuilding White Sox were open to giving the out-of-options Pereira a decent amount of playing time this year. However, he hit the injured list in early April with a left ankle sprain. He came back quickly but hit the IL again in late April due to a pectoral strain. He came back in June but quickly returned to the IL due to a concussion. Around all the IL stints, he only got into 27 games. The Sox emerged as legitimate contenders along the way and no longer had the ability to be patient with his development.

Thursday at 10:11 PM1 day I honestly wouldn’t mind Doyle so much if it didn’t coincide with simply dumping Pereira and Hays. Hays could have helped this season off the bench as a pinch hitter against lefties and Pereira had 5 freaking more years of control. Waste of resources. Obviously some team wanted Pereira and it’s a team that is just 4 games back of a Wild Card spot.

He was young, dirt cheap, and under control for 5 more years. Peters is falling off and Doyle stinks. I don’t think it was necessarily the obvious move to make. If Getz had added a truly good CF with current or more recent success than Doyle, I would have no problem with it. I guess we’ll see if Pereira and/or Doyle pan out like Curtis “No Longer” Meadiocre. You can complain about it being a control issue but the guy spent like 80 percent of his time in Chicago hurt. Just doesn’t matter, movin along movin on

He was so bad defensively and the offense had some problems as well, although I acknowledge the surprising pop from the left side. Like Everson, Brooks is a little harder to be patient with if you think the team is going to be good. There's some other crap on the 40-man that the Sox could clear first, of course. But we may have some new crap we want on there too.
