I am absolutely dumbfounded that Drew Romo continues to catch meaningful games for the White Sox. He can not hit and his defense, blocking, throwing, ABS is brutal. Can anyone who may be insider please educate me on why Drew Romo continues to play for the White Sox?

Tell me why Eric Haase or even Quero are not upgrades over him?

The Sox have been forced to make several changes at catcher because of injuries this season, but since being called up April 25, Romo hasn’t been one of them.

Better than Ke’Bryan Hayes at a crisp 430 ops…

Jake Rogers DFA’d yesterday. .8 WAR better than Romo and 1 WAR better than Quero.

Knizer was also signed by the Giants. If the Sox refuse to try Lee, may as well get Rogers. I would like to keep Romo in the minors but he looks hopeless right now. Unless the A’s magically release Jonah Heim, you’re not going to do any better than Rogers out there. Or try Haase maybe. Romo can’t buy a hit.

Agreed. You have to stick with Quero now. He’s the lefty and appears to be getting out of his season-long slump. I wouldn’t mind adding Rogers as the right-handed side of the catching platoon and the veteran. I’m not sure if it was ever determined if Romo has options left but they need to send him down regardless. I would not be surprised if Rogers is with the Sox soon.

.801 OPS against lefties this year (SSS) but he's always hit lefties.

I guess they look at it as just needing to field a position.

Adding outside catchers unless they are real veterans is risky handling pitchers.
