Sorry, I really didn’t mean it to sound negative. I meant because you obviously watch the pods with Fegan more often than me that you would have a more educated opinion on him. I just watched the most recent pod with James and Fegan and some other dude (can’t remember his name) that you shared, and Fegan struggled to get his point across and was involuntarily/sarcastically laughing at most of the questions. Both James’es know way more about baseball than Our Chuck, but Fegan would also be terrible in Our Chuck’s current role.

Strange cadence is spot on. I assume it is nervousness.

On the reddit thread referenced a podcast where he gave a long winding answer that left the other two hosts befuddled/annoyed, with nothing left to say about the topic.

I think it's more an erudite need to craft the perfect, sarcastic sentence. I find both Jim and James a bit forced, but they've provided the most thorough coverage of White Sox baseball, along-side James and Ian of FutureSox. There was a time 40 years ago I'd look up the Boston Globe online to read Peter Gammons' column for any mention of the White Sox. If James is going back to the Athletic, the more power to him, and us.

Ahhh, that’s right, it was Jim Margalus! Too many damn J’s.

Quite honestly, I thought J. Fox and J. Margulas were WAY better than J. Fegan in that pod. Just my opinion…

Thanks for sharing the pod. In any case, it’s still better White Sox talk than you can get anywhere else.

Doesn’t surprise me. I honestly thought he never really completely jived with those guys anyway. Maybe their recent new partnership with foul territory has something to do with it? Probably got a new gig elsewhere though I think I’d be surprised if it was the athletic given how unstable they can be

One thing Fegan needs to work on is not being almost completely silent at times when he’s giving a thought. Sometimes I can barely hear him complete one.

Fegan is a writer through & through and he’s not naturally a great podcaster (although I still enjoy him in that forum).

My guess is The Athletic rehired him now that we are good. I canceled my subscription with them when they let him go, but will happily re-up if they bring him back. He is the greatest beat writer in Sox history and it’s not even close.

I also canceled when Fegan was let go by the Athletic. Somehow, I still get the subscription but without the fee.

If you have a NY Times subscription, the Athletic is part of them now. I cancelled The Athletic when they cut the Sox coverage, but now get it again through the NYT.

I really enjoy Sean Anderson but adding Fegan would be fantastic. Herb Lawrence is back on a couple times a week.
