And who said anything about the season being over? But it is a fact the Sox starting pitching is shaky at best. When you have TBD listed for not one but two games against a team that's pretty good and happens to play in the same city, that to me is noteworthy.

Rain outs have to be made up. They only have 3 off days remaining. Using one of them creates another 21 game run without a day off. And a rain out isn't a day off. They still come to the park.

It’s pretty disappointing that even in this surprise season you can’t even really enjoy it and have to provide “don’t get swept” into a thread after they just swept a team that was nipping on their heels

The schedule sucks TBH, certainly compared to the teams chasing us in the Central. The only real thing I see good about it is that the last two weeks are mostly at home and we have a rockies tilt. Otherwise we've been unlucky with our IL rival the Cubs one of the 5 best team in MLB, we opened against the best team in MLB, and we'll have to go face a decently hot Mets team still. Really you couldn't have pulled a worse IL tilt. Just get rid of it imo other than the Cubs. I'm over IL. With TV national and universal DH who even cares?

Just glancing at schedules, Guardians have what would be the “easiest”. None of it is easy, each team has a gauntlet. Detroit has dodgers Toronto Tampa and the Sox, twins have Atlanta NYY Texas and the Sox, and Guardians have Toronto Boston and the Sox(SF if you want to count them, I think they have been playing better)

The Sox just need to keep doing what they have been doing, and each one of their competitors have to leapfrog each other while playing each other, and then the Sox

Gotcha, so you’re saying he can optioned one more time and called up again one more time. Still risky to have him on the roster knowing that demoting him requires putting him on outright waivers, but it’s a little better of a situation than the one I illustrated.

If the Sox go even .500 the other teams have to on a run that just none of them seem capable of. People need to take a step back a little.

I would prefer no rainout Tuesday thank you very much as I will be traveling from out of state to see the game.

Alright, woke up this morning to see who is scheduled to start the next three games against the Cubs. Right now, it’s Castillo going tonight and then two TBDs listed for Tuesday & Wednesday. Who do we think those TBDs will end up being?

Here are the main options:

1. Urquidy - He last pitched this past Friday giving up 3 ER in 3.2 IP. If he pitches on Wednesday, he’d be on four days rest. Right now, I’m not sure they can send him down without exposing him to waivers, so my guess is he’s locked in for getting at least one more start.

2. Fedde - He last pitched this past Thursday in relief of Martin giving up 4 ER in 3 IP. He could be an option for Tuesday or Wednesday going on 4 days rest or 5 days rest respectively. It’s also very possible he’s just a piggyback option for someone else or part of a broader bullpen day strategy.

3. Bullpen - Speaking of which, this is also a very realistic possibility. Schweitzer & Richards haven’t pitched since last Thursday and each could give you two or three IP. If Fedde doesn’t piggyback, he could also give you a couple. It would be a low frills plan, but I could them making if they don’t mind the optics of it happening during a big series for the fans.

4. Thorpe - He last pitched this past Wednesday making his first start of the season in AAA going 5 IP with just 1 ER, 6 K, & 0 BB. As such, he’s option for either day and Venable recently brought him up, so I think he’s a central part of the rest of season roadmap. I’m just skeptical they do it for this series. Feels like one more start in Charlotte and then being called up for Sunday’s game is more likely. He will also require a roster move, both to the 40 man and 26 man roster, in order to be added.

5. Shane Smith - He last pitched last Thursday in AAA going 6 IP with 1 ER, 5 K, & 1 BB. It was his best start in a while, but hard to ignore the rest of his struggles after just one good start. And like with Thorpe, is this the environment you want to bring him into when returning to the majors? That being said, he would be on four & five days rest if they wanted to with him, so he’s certainly an option.

6. Schultz - He last pitched the past this past Friday going 4 IP with just 1 ER but also with no K’s or BB’s. He’d be on four days rest for the Wednesday game, so certainly an option, but seems like an unlikely one to me. He’s got a lot of stuff to work through and I think a low stress AAA environment is ideal for him. He’s also getting close to an innings limit, so calling him up and forcing another 26 man roster move for someone who may not be able to stick through September seems unlikely to me.

I think you could put Sandlin in the mix. Cannon too as a long shot. He's pitched better than usual lately though still prone to too many center cut pitches that result in HR's, but he's cut way down on his walks.

That's about right but I don't think pushing Thorpe is in the cards yet. Sandlin is a better option. We may all want to see what Thorpe can do but he needs more reps and endurance.. He knows a lot about pitching and can look good falling out of bed . How many times has Sandlin been yo-yo'd this season.

Sandlin pitched on Saturday and would have to go on three days rest to pitch even the Wednesday game. I can’t see them doing that. I think he becomes a serious option for a rotation spot as soon as next week.

DFA Wikleman Gonzalez and Joe Rock off the 40 . DFA Hays & Pereira off the 40. Davitt DFA to make room for Doyle but then traded for Bart. Eisert & Jacob Gonzalez traded for MiLB Pitcher and draft pick.

Now I'm dizzier than I was before 7 newest additions and 7 gone.🤣Aah crap forgot about Dominquez . I'm unbalanced again.

Unless his injury turns out to be season-ending and they 60-day IL him. I do feel like he's a non-tender candidate this off-season and was going to be DFA'd by Atlanta to make room for Murphy before we traded our DFA guy for him so I do feel like he's an option to be DFA'd as well.
