I think batting average without power is kind useless. Some of those hitters Lip listed were great. Thomas in particular was Bonds esque in his ability to take pitches. I loved Valentin but I think that kind of player today isn't worth much. He hit for a low average and didn't get on base. The difference is that both Vargas and Mune have high OBP to go with the pop they provide. Actually think Vargas projects to be a similar profile as Lee but with more walks and more power.
