I don’t think he should have acquired a CF period. I’d rather have either Adams or another starting pitcher rental in the rotation right now. Doyle is basically a defensive replacement because his bat is so bad.

Adell was a negative bWAR player with the Angels this year and has put up the STELLAR fWAR lines of 0.5, 1.2, 0.1, 0.2, -0.2, 0.1 and -1.4 in his career. At least Doyle has an actual decent season under his belt. 🤣

No, you wouldn't have rather have Adams, because he would have pitched his first game, threw 4 mediocre innings, then you would have whined about how he sucks. And the guys we traded wouldn't have even stoked a rumor on the level of "WE COULD HAVE HAD KEASCHALL!!!!" You're parlaying one interesting bat and a #5 starter into fucking Verlander in his prime. Are we still talking about the player that Doyle was 2 full seasons ago while playing his home games at a hitters haven park?

I didn’t want Adell either but he was better than Doyle last year with a 1.2 bWAR. He is also doing well with the Guardians currently. It’s okay to admit that the Guardians’ outfielder trade deadline acquisition was better than Getz’s.

They already have Grichuk who does the same thing. I guess you could play Adell in right but he's terrible on defense. You could DH him but then they're carrying 2 DHs with him and Benintendi. He just wasn't a great fit and he absolutely cannot hit righties.

I don't believe the Sox had the prospect capital to compete for a true "go for it" TDL. Their top 6 prospects would be gone for rentals, who weren't even difference makers. Seriously, you going to start Kevin Gausman in game one? I'd rather s%*# in my fist and squeeze it.

No way. We are still very clear favorites in my opinion. As long as we keep winning series, which, outside of the cubs and reds series, we've been doing consistently, we will win the division.

The idea behind acquiring Doyle is the same as Vargas. See if they can fix some of his flaws and turn him into a valuable OF option. Guy puts up anywhere near a 100 wRC+ and he's a valuable player with his defense.

Maybe they could've grabbed him in the offseason, maybe not. Take him now, get to know him, help him out more this offseason and see if you can get something valuable for a guy who likely is gonna suck in the majors and be a decent reliever at best.

Cleveland got to play two bottom dweller teams back to back who have nothing to play for, we keep running into teams who are hot and still in contention. I have a feeling Guardians are going to go on one of their end of the season runs
