What is it with you guys? It's weird how the guys who WEREN'T haranguing me all winter, mocking me for thinking the Sox could win more than 75 games - don't need me to blame Getz for not conducting a stellar, 10-win TDL. None of you guys deserved a good TDL. You didn't deserve a playoff run. The Sox didn't lose 100, or even 90. Admit you were wrong and move on.

I have a great idea. Why don't you lay out how wrong you were, and what a great job Getz did in building this team to be in FUCKING FIRST PLACE ON SEPTEMBER 6TH, and then I'll talk about the trade deadline. Until then, you can just go look up my many comments on this.

But even you didn’t think the Sox would have this record or be in contention for first place, so you are full of s%*# for what you are trying to call everyone else out for.

James Fegan is the only one on record with that original prediction...it was somewhere around 77-78 wins.

Nobody else was higher than 74-75.

The majority of the board was at 67-70 or 71.

WE literally said that he would have crapped all over Getz if he had traded for Jo Adell. Meanwhile, Adell would have been a better acquisition than either Castillo or Doyle, while potentially retaining Boston Smith and Mason Adams.

@fathom has also posted numerous times how bad the Sox are against left handed pitching. Instead, Getz acquired a buster in Doyle that hasn’t been good for 2 year at Coors and the 38-year old rotting corpse of Tommy Pham…

What a fucking homer jabroni take.

Jo Adell isn't a centerfielder. Adell would not have been a better acquisition. He would have struck out his first at-bat with the Sox, and you would have "blown your load" (I believe that's what you glum chums call it) screaming about what a bad trade Getz made. Tell me, were you SO F-CKING WRONG YOU STINK OVER SAYING VARGAS WAS POSSIBLY A BENCH BAT?!? Don't forget to stretch and chalk up your hands before you start your gymnastics routine.

Getz ended up acquiring a LF/DH in Pham anyways, so why wouldn’t Adell have fit?

Vargas was a bench bat until the second half of last season. He blew chunks. What is your question here? He panned out finally but he for sure sucked for his first full season of at bats with the Sox.

Does Vargas improving at age 24 mean that 33 year old Castillo is going to improve next year in his age 34 season? Does that also mean that 28 year old Brenton Doyle is going to improve after 2 awful seasons in a row? Your comparisons and arguments don’t even make sense.

The Dodgers thought Vargas didn't have a permanent position with them.

Yet they're smart enough to have made every single post season since the heydays of Yasiel Puig and now well beyond.

They even traded AL MVP Yordan Alvarez for a blah/nothing return.

Nobody defended you more than me earlier in the season. I even made a thread about how you were owed apologies for being optimistic about this season and your win prediction.

This has nothing to do with that though. You don't seem to be able to disconnect this trade from the team's record and Getz's other moves. I'm just not sure why you are so stubbornly ignoring reality here. The trade has been a disaster and Castillo has hurt the team. Can't we be honest that Getz/the team have had a hell of the year, but the Castillo acquisition has been AWFUL? We don't need to act like everything single Getz does is fantastic.

We don't deserve anything because we criticize a move Getz made? 😂 C'mon man.

WE tried to argue that I didn’t mention Mason Adams’ most recent start because it wasn’t good and he gave up 3 ER in 4.2 IP. If Castillo could do that, no me would be complaining. WE is fucking delusional.

I really wish I had the energy to look up your comments after Castillo put up an almost identical line against the Cubs.

Tell you what? Imma gonna trust the guy who scouted, traded for, and repurposed our All-Star third-baseman that you continued to badmouth into this season. Imma gonna trust the guy you mocked for picking up Tristan Peters and rostering him on opening day. Seriously, that's above your pay grade. I've got nothing to defend against whimpering fools who should be standing outside Rate Field right now screaming for Chris Getz to throw them his underwear.

You get to complain about the trade deadline because while you were looking for a January waiver claim to mock, your GM built a contendah!! I think we'd all be fine if you just said thank you.

Maybe you need Neil DeGrasse Tyson to log on and explain how time works to you. The needs a team perceives on July 31 aren't the same as the needs you perceive on August 31. Gee, we might need a home run hitter in 2047. Maybe we should start drafting babies right now.

Oh yes. One month is the equivalent to 21 years. Keep grasping at straws. @fathom had called out the Sox struggles against left handed pitching at the deadline.

So both Vargas and Peters ended up being great acquisitions. No argument there. Yet you can’t admit that these most trade deadline acquisitions absolutely sucked? Why not? They did. It’s a fact at this point. No one wants Castillo in the rotation, much less have him around next year and meanwhile Doyle barely even plays so he is a non-factor that wasn’t worth a trading away a viable starting pitcher for that has been better than Castillo. It was an awful trade deadline.

Okay, Ron. I thought your thread was mostly in jest, but I'll take this seriously. The Castillo acquisition hasn't worked out. I understand what they were going for, and it still might work, but the clock's running out. They stated what they were going to do. They weren't going to break the bank, and they were going to try to get mid talent to eat innings. Maybe they were cocky, tried to thread a needle, and it's not working out.

I've already said that if one of Castillo or Urquidy turn into Fedde, the experiment worked.

I don't watch baseball to b**** at the top of my lungs how somebody else fucked up and now my life is over. I have my own real life to do that.

Well, you're the one who believes that we can just grab guys off of waivers in December 2026 to fill needs in August 2026. Maybe Reinsdorf has a DeLorean parked under the stands.

That wasn't me questioning him. That was me saying it was interesting how low he has Doyle in the pinch hitting pecking order

Didn’t Getz actually do that very thing with Tristan Peters, which I have praised him for?

The Sox needed a starting CF since they traded Robert and obviously Acuna wasn’t the answer, but Peters ended up being the solution.

So apparently it IS possible to acquire a starting player within 9 months as you proposed! I guess I was right to have those expectations. Thanks for proving my point! 🤣

No, it doesn't end there. The paragraph should continue on to say: "And I had no fucking idea what the f*** I was screaming about."

People do this, "well, yeah, I ate crow, so what?" Admitting reality doesn't erase all the BS you made everyone live through every day of the last two seasons. Just as you screamed how much Vargas sucked every single day of 2024 after we acquired him, you should be screaming how stupid and wrong you were and are every day he OPS's above .800. Every time Tristan Peters hits a home run, you should be all over every single string on the site telling everyone you have the same credibility as a car alarm. Do that. Be as vociferous about how wrong you were when a player succeeds as you were negative when they were trying to get their footing. Be careful. You might get suspended.

Castillo was a project. Projects cost prospects. Castillo has not been good. See?? I admit reality. I don't need to "eat crow". I didn't guarantee he would mow down every team he faced. He hasn't been good. If you know anything about me in the last 3 years, you know I'm not going to bail and scream about a trade until I get to see it play out. He's on the team. Maybe they'll fix him. Maybe they won't.

Well, if they're working with Doyle, it's slow on the uptake. I apologize. The game threads get rough, even in a White Sox rout. They're in a pennant race, and we're all edgy.

I didn't, but I didn't mock and post laughing emojis on the people who said more than I. I can think of RubRub and Caulfield who regularly called me out for being too "exuberant". I explained, multiple times, how I thought this team was good for 75+ wins. I showed my math, multiple times, and was mocked for it. In the "bold predictions" thread, I picked 82 wins. I'm calling out the people who gratuitously predicted win totals in the 30s to troll. Those who mocked a 4th 100-loss season. Those who mockingly countered with, "oh, so they'll lose 99...so what?!?"

No, you and others keep saying that Castillo and Doyle would be available on waivers AFTER the season they're being acquired for. I think I'm too inebriated to understand the joke or the dis.

I've always been at 75+. Maybe your nickname for me is "nobody". I was regularly mocked for explaining that the 25 Sox played at a 70-win pace from the All-Star game on. I extrapolated that to a 75+ prediction, considering that Meidroth, Colson, Vargas, Teel, Quero, Brooks Baldwin would improve on their 25 performance.

Seriously, you could just not lie and mock me, instead of lying and mocking me for the s%*# you make up, Holden.

This isn’t accurate. People have been saying that if Getz didn’t trade for Castillo that the Mariners would have placed him on waivers, hoping some team would claim him. The Mariners would have dumped Castillo’s contract on that team quicker than Reese McGuire bussed in his car in that Florida strip mall.

Regerding Doyle, the Rockies wanted to dump his ass because Cole Carrigg is younger and better than Doyle. I don’t think it would have been a surprise for the Rockies to non-tender an outfielder that can’t even OPS above .600 in the offseason.

Am I being crazy and unreasonable here? Meanwhile, Getz traded away actual assets for these two utter bums that definitely aren’t helping the Sox in their current playoff run.

Try to refute this…

You can’t, but good luck trying.

They probably would have been available this season. Neither player has any value and somehow the Sox gave up more than a bag of baseballs for them.

They are negative contributors to this team right now, in a pennant race. So, I really couldn't give a s%*# when they acquired them, if at all... This team is probably better if Getz had made ZERO moves at the trade deadline. That's what people are talking about here and what you keep p****footing around addressing. It's literally impossible for you to criticize anything he does, and it is super fucking weird.

Maybe not. I was taking from the posts you guys were mocking the Sox because Castillo and Doyle would be non-tendered after the 2026 season. Maybe they would have been. But the Sox wanted them now. I'm guessing that Chris Getz isn't so stupid that he traded Mason Adams and Boston Smith for guys that other teams WEREN'T vying for. I mean, we can pretend that he's so stupid he's trading for the rights to Mordecai Brown, but I doubt that's what's happening. There were markets for Castillo and Doyle.

Nobody was higher than Fegan at 78.

“I've already said that if one of Castillo or Urquidy turn into Fedde, the experiment worked.”

A $22-23 million pitcher is providing the same value as one that cost $1.5 million in Fedde? What a bar you set, although he’s actually not even close to that right now. His bWAR and fWAR are well underwater.

He can’t even surpass a guy who’s been in the minors all season in Urquidy?

Brilliant.

Even Mason Adams has provided the Rockies three opportunities to win in each of his starts…at a fraction of the cost.

90-95% of what front offices do or don’t do is hidden behind closed doors.

It would be more likely that you’ve hidden Getz’s Big Board in your basement than anyone here being able to find the second or third best outstanding offers (if any) for Castillo or Doyle.

Unless it later comes out to make the front office look like they weren’t all alone on an island.
