Let's look at the bright side - the Sox are going to have an absolute STAR in Caleb Bonemer

Featured Replies

Caleb appears ready to make the jump hopefully next year. I'm excited to see what he becomes. It's definitely nice to have insurance for Colson - his second half OPS was just .557. I fear the league has figured out how to exploit him out of the zone.

I don't think Braden was rushed at all. He didn't have a great postseason, but for a 23 year old coming up, he did absolutely fine in his 400ish plate appearances.

Excellent summary of the true nature of our current owner. Best post you’ve had on this site IMO.

I don't think they rushed Braden. I think Braden came up when he was ready but now has to make adjustments at the MLB level......it's ok to do that. Not everyone comes up and rakes, it's all a process.

Hell, look at what Vargas had to go through before he turned into anything. A lot of the board was completely done with him and now he’s the best player on a playoff team.

I’m not saying Braden (or Colson for that matter), will have a similar experience, but we gotta relax on who’s a bust and who’s a future star.

I have loved Bonemer since his very first at bat in Kanny. He has what the scout's call "a good face." Nothing seems to intimidate him, and while his swing is a tad unorthodox, he's so strong he makes it work. My record with guys I like is super mixed. I was an early guy on Baldwin, Antonacci, and Colson. But I also really thought Oscar Colas would be something. Ah, no. It will certainly be interesting to see how Bonemer turns out.

Oooh, I can't wait for the Soxtalk special of him hitting a big homer in his first game and Ron declaring victory before he promptly turns into September Colson and he pretends he never said anything.

  • Predicted Antonacci's rise when he was still in the low level minors

  • Predicted that David Sandlin would be a good pitcher. He had some very good starts for us.

  • Predicted Braden's call up date and nailed it to the day.

My track record this season was impeccable. I'll have some piping hot crow ready for you when Bonemer becomes a star.

Jose Abreu said hola.

Can't wait to see how Bonemer handles AAA and (likely) his first partial MLB season next year.

Jacob Gonzalez

Sandlin was erratic at best

Braden was roughly 100+ ops points below the average mlb RFer

Cubs' song lyrics jinx for G3 lol

Gotta go that far back in my track record, huh? Speaks volumes about how impeccable it has been.

Definitely not the most recent, but the award winner for five straight years of failure.

Aren't you going to be right 25-33% of the time hyping every Sox prospect that comes down the pipeline?

Not unlike WestEddy being overly optimistic coming into every season.

If Ron883 actually scouted all these players in person and wrote up comprehensive reports on them in advance...otherwise "lay people" are merely guessing.

Like Cali with Outman then Pages (50% right) or the debate about Lucas Giolito after his rough initial season back in the day.

If his comment was a joke David Samson certainly didn't think so when he talked about it and the Sox never denied the conversation.

Well, Samson sure didn't take it as life advice, as he only finished 2nd twice in 14 seasons. He finished lower all the rest. Maybe Reinsdorf didn't give him the primo advice of "always win", because it was free advice.

You railed on that I didn't predict 84 wins when I predicted 75+, 78 and 82. Maybe you should take your "make sense" meds.

And 2022-23-24-25?

Nobody (originally) predicted 78 but Fegan. Nobody.

Where is this supposed 82 prediction?

6-8 weeks into the season?

Shouldn't the White Sox PR office have offered a job for your unbridled enthusiasm and prescience?

Why would anybody predict wins before Spring Training even started? Go look at the predictions thread. Your panic is typical of somebody who knows they're wrongy wrong.

I just want to know if WestEddy also predicted that the Sox would blow both the division and the ALDS to the Guardians when both were theirs for the taking. Then he is a real prognosticator.

He kind of disappeared at that time...except for a few pro Getz diatribes in between games.

Instead, the Mariners managed to unload Castillo and his remaining contract, which includes $22.75 million next season and a potential $25 million vesting option in 2025. It still boggles the mind that the White Sox agreed to take on his entire salary, but even more so that they also sent Seranthony Domínguez, Boston Smith and Nolan Jones to Seattle. Under any other circumstances, you would be calling 911 to report the M's for grand theft.

Haha the jokes on you Jerry we are just going to suck instead!

To be fair, Jerry didn't much take his own advice over the last decade by your "standard" also only finishing 2nd twice in 14 years. They did get last 3 times and 4th 6 times though.
