My vote for song from the nineties, anything off of Metallica-Metallica, that album never left the Billboard charts.

Great songs there, especially Bitter Sweet Symphony. Excellent Video clip to go along with that song too.

Never saw the clip, but that Dangerous Liaisons rip-off provided of a video for BS in itself. Good use of music, too.

What, no Aimee Anouk, er, Mann?

For shame. :headshake

For shame.  :headshake

Aimee Mann never made a big splash, or has a real hit.

Hell she played a show at a local COMMUNITY COLLEGE in the late nineties.

I actually debated this with a friend today.

I thought November Rain, Smells like Teen Spirit for the early 90's

Oasis had some good songs in the mid 90's, and I just don't know what was the best song of the late 90's.

There's so many great songs from the 90's I couldnt begin to pick just one favorite.

Here's a top 10 list based on what comes to mind just this minute.

Green Day: When I Come Around

Bush: Comedown

Nirvana: Smells like Teen Spirit

Weezer: Sweater Song

Counting Crows: Long December

Live: All Over You

Goo Goo Dolls: Name

Collective Soul: World I Know

Verve Pipe: Freshmen

For my token Rap song: Young MC Bust a move.

Mind you there are a lot more songs that I think kick ass from the 90's but I just cant think of em all right now.

There's no debate about this... Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana.

the Cheat rightly brought the pivotal role of women in the 90s to mind :headbang :headbang thanks T.C. because you corrected us all

nuke mentioned Verve Pipe's The Freshman :headbang :headbang :headbang

Anything by Matchbox20. ;)

Right, well, let me rectify that then....

Crucify, God, Pretty Good Day, Silent All These Years, A Boy and a Gun (if you've got the stomache) and Winter from Tori Amos

32 Flavors, Not a Pretty Girl, Untouchable Face and well, any thing else by Ani DiFranco

Get Gone and Criminal by Fiona Apple

Aiden and Ice Cream from Sarah McLaughlin

None of Yo Business by Salt N Peppa

Anything from Exile in Guyville and Polyester Bride by Liz Phair

And Cheat, I was having a discussion about a related topic with a good friend: Are there currently (or since Cobain's death) have there been any self-proclaimed Feminist MALE recording artists? I can't think of any, but as my list shows, I've been prone to brain fairts.

I would like to nominate:

1) Ba-Wid-A-Ba 2) American Bad Ass

KId Rock jams!!!

:snr :snr :notworthy :usa

Macarena!

Vanilla Ice!!!! ice ice baby and a ninja turtles movie... how is that not the pinnacle of 90's stardom

You outta Know - Alanis Morissette

That's a good song. Jagged Little Pill is probably my favorite CD of the 90s. There are so many good songs on there. You Oughta Know is one of many great rock songs on that album.

My favorite song of the 90's was P. Diddy's or back then, Puff Daddy's, version of "I'll Be Missin' You."

No way - his Kashmir is better.

Word to whoever said You oughta KNow. Good song.

Cheat, or to everyone in general, when bringing up women, why not bring up Meredith Brooks(I think it is) with the song "b****." I can't say I liked it myself(I could never see myself singing "I'm a b****", but maybe that's just me), but it seemed like an OK song, and seemed to be pretty popular at the time if memory serves correctly.

  • 1 year later...

Excuse "i'll be Missing you" Give me a break somewhere sting and the rest of the Police are throwing up P. Diddy, Puff Daddy, Sean "Puffy" Combs, or whatever you want to call him ruined that song

Boyz 2 Men - I'll Make Love To You

How could that not be on there?? Doesn't it still hold the record for most babies popping out within the 9 months the song came out or something to that extent?

Stone Temple Pilot-Plush

Alice In Chains-Rooster

311-Beautiful Disaster

Oasis-Champagne Supernova

Rage Against the Machine-Bulls on Parade

I'll think of more later.
