May 9, 200421 yr We have taken our second series loss of the year and we are tied for our biggest losing streak of the season. Is this the end? Are we cursed to sub .500 baseball from now on or can we recover and win the division? If you can't tell already this post is being made in sarcasm, while I was pissed last night I don't think i'm ready to have the doom and gloomers come out yet. Could be worse, we could be Royals fans... However if we lose again to those damn Blue Jays I think i'm going to :puke It's always a good time for this sign as well ------> :fthecubs
May 9, 200421 yr I am very worried about the team right now. The overall feel of the team is s***ty. Though I do blame the Royals, for waking up the bats fo Toronto
May 9, 200421 yr It's May right? I didn't knock my head and lose 4 months of the season? We are still tied for first place?
May 9, 200421 yr It's May right? I didn't knock my head and lose 4 months of the season? We are still tied for first place? First place even though we're playing like crap. Think what will happen once our bats actually wake up... WSoxshuf, for you, the overall feel of the team is ALWAYS s***ty...
May 9, 200421 yr I've got to agree with Cali. It's still early in the season, so there's no sense in worrying too much. Sure, losing 2 games to Toronto is nothing to be excited about, but we are still tied for first and are still doing better than .500. Now I could be wrong.. and you can quote me on this in the next few weeks, but I've got a funny feeling that our bats will start heating up again. Can't say how well our pitching will do (hopefully better), but as long as we're winning.. I'm happy.
May 9, 200421 yr After what we went through during the first half of 2003 there is that little nagging & horrifying voice from the past saying that it can and will happen again. The offense jaggernaut we all expected then and this year too is anemic at best and dead at worse. However, we are 2 1/2 games better this year then at this time last year. We ARE in a tie for 1st place. We have a manager willing to play a different style of baseball, if needed, to mix things up and Greg Walker here full-time, not to mention another hitting star in Harold Baines. You never like to lose and hate it when a team struggles, but we know it is bound to happen. Let it be now and not September is all I can say. As hard as it is to do we just need to be patient. I know these guys can do it. Let's go for a win today and prepare for the Orioles and those darn Twinkies next weekend. I just hate the idea the only game I get to watch (unless ESPN comes through this week) is the Sunday WGN game vrs Minny.
May 9, 200421 yr No way in hell i'm panicking. Teams are going to go through slumps, we should be able to accept that, we're not going to win every series. Including this series, we've lost 2, 2! that's it. It will take a few more losses in a row for me to start panicking.
May 9, 200421 yr Usually, teams go through one slump a year and then bounce back and put together a nice season...hopefully this is the slump and thankfully its early as opposed later

But we must win the series against Baltimore or else we are in deep s***
May 9, 200421 yr Maybe this losing streak will help Guillen realize that he needs to adjust the lineup.
May 10, 200421 yr Just slumping right now. BUT, these could be huge: -Frank is getting some clutch hits and hitting hard balls -Carlos SEEMS to be seeing the ball better and getting a few hits.. today at least -Uribe is still swinging the bat well -Willie had a good day today, hopefully he can continue If we don't get it done against Baltimore, they're gonna be FIRED up for the Minnesota series. I think this team is going to compete harder against teams in our own division this year. Just a prediction.
May 10, 200421 yr As horrible as the Sox played in Toronto, they are still in first place. Coming home, playing in some warmth, the bats will start getting hot, and they will build a little lead in the AL Central.

Heck, they might still be slumbering a bit during the Baltimore series whilst PK and a few others try to get warm. But, the Minnesota series, they should be ready for.
