I will tell you his motivation, he saw a chance to get a decent prospect, get a little money off the books, and not have him give everyone a heart attack when he goes out there.
June 18, 200421 yr I predicted the Marlins would be interested in Koch, due to their bullpen problems. They wanted Contreas, but he's 3-0 in his last 4 starts, and might actually stay with the Pinstripes. It'll be very interestin to see how he does with the Fishies.

Hopefully this will open up some payroll room for us to acquire a Freddy Garcia or Steve Finley type of impact player.

June 18, 200421 yr Found this on Valdez from an old BA chat wrap earlier this season, Triple-A middle infielder Wilson Valdez would get the first in-house crack at replacing Castillo, although he has even less pop than Louie.
June 18, 200421 yr I'm thinkin Ozzie probably saw sumthin of Valdez while he was down in Florida, looked like he was the Marlins' top infield prospect and would have replaced Castillo or Alex Gonzalez.
