July 6, 200421 yr Found this, I think Hasegawa could be a nice addition to the Southside. Other available relievers include Orioles LHP Buddy Groom, Mariners RHP Shigetoshi Hasegawa and Pirates RHP Brian Meadows, plus Toronto RHPs Terry Adams, Kerry Ligtenberg and Justin Speier and Royals RHP Scott Sullivan. . . .

If I absolutely had to choose from that pile it would be Meadows. The rest are not very good.
July 6, 200421 yr Hasegawa is making almost 3 mil this year with a 5.40 ERA. That being said, he might be able to turn it around here. Not sure if there are any better options on the market, but I bet Hasegawa would be better than Mike Jackson. BTW, Sullivan was pretty good for us last year.
July 6, 200421 yr That pretty much looks like a random collection of crap to me. Nothing there that makes me say we gotta have this guy. My vote is wait until the All-star break and hope that more teams fall out of the race, increasing the potential group, see if some guys like Smoltz or Danny Graves show up. And if I was going to take anyone from Seattle's pen it would clearly be Guardado, but I'm not sure if he is actually going to be available, and if he is, it will cost us quite a bit. We don't need more medicore arms. If we are going to add to the pen we need a reliable stud that we can use in the 7th or in the 8th to take some of the load off of Marte and Shingo. I realize these guys are harder to come by, but let's wait and see.
July 6, 200421 yr What about Scott Stewart...The Indians are looking to trade him and except for this year, he's had a good career. Maybe Coop can teach him that cutter.
July 6, 200421 yr Stewart is a lefty, but he's experienced as a late-inning reliever and a closer... 2004 0 2 7.24 23 0 0 0 0 2 13.2 23 14 11 2 6 18 Career 10 6 3.85 203 0 0 0 20 26 168.1 167 85 72 16 54 153
July 6, 200421 yr Let's go after Benson AND Meadows in a package deal. The Pirates "owe" us after boning us on the Ritchie trade.

July 6, 200421 yr Let's go after Benson AND Meadows in a package deal. The Pirates "owe" us after boning us on the Ritchie trade. If they trade us benson they would have gotten us once more.
July 6, 200421 yr Groom and/or Meadows would be good pick-ups. Maybe Hasegawa and Sully too, but I'd prefer Meadows first, then Groom.
July 6, 200421 yr I really think Siggy Hasegawa could turn it around here. If the M's pay some of his salary, I'd pull the trigger on a deal for him. He did get stretched out too much last season, but he could really help us IMHO.
July 6, 200421 yr isn't the rp from col avail as well? Do you mean Shawn Chacon? If so, then I think, yes, he is.
July 6, 200421 yr If they trade us benson they would have gotten us once more. What's wrong with Benson? He puts up respectable numbers for a s***ty team.
July 7, 200421 yr What's wrong with Benson? He puts up respectable numbers for a s***ty team. Benson blows if he came over to the american league he would be lucky to have an era in the low 5's.
July 7, 200421 yr why would we want sullivan again? he obviously didnt want to be here last off season.... might kill chemistry
