Joe Crede

It's common knowledge he's been struggling, but it's been expected that he'll turn it around. From the Southtown,

"I think Crede has the best tools I see in the kids at third base, but it's time for it to click," Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said Sunday. "If you wait another year to see what he can do, it's going to be hard for him and for everybody.

"When you don't have a year like that and you're expecting somebody to be good and all of a sudden it never comes, you give a lot of people doubt. A lot of people think, 'Is this for real or is this is a moment thing or a month?' You start to put a lot of doubts in their mind."

I believe this is what my daddy called "lighting a fire under his ass"

Crede has shown he can play at this level, but he has yet to out it all together

Crede is like Garland. They are what they are. Eagerly awaiting major improvements is a waste of time.

I disagree with this, Crede has much less experience than Garland has

Plus, they both could improve at any time, who the hell really knows.

I kind of agree. Both seem quiet, but there are times when they can be amazing. I believe they have bright futures, but when will they "click"?

Once the sox no longer have them. ;)

Baseball is unpredictable. That's why it's silly to expect him to improve. He's got over 1000 major league at bats. He's 26. Lacks plate discipline. I just don't see any logical reason why he would substantially improve. I hope he does....

Agreed. I think it's funny when you see all these other quality prospects around the league come up and they immediately start producing. Yet, when a touted Sox prospect comes up we've got to wait 3 or 4 years for them to really click.

Crede has had his moments. His run in Aug/Sept 2002 was incredible. He had a solid second half last year as well. But after that it's been a big time struggle for Joe. He's got some of the worst plate discipline i've ever seen. He'll display some of the ugliest swings you'll ever see. He rarely walks. His defense has been kinda shady this year. I don't know. Unless we trade for a better 3rd baseman, "we won't" we've got to be patient with him.

I didn't catch the games over the weekend, or at least not too much of them, but prior to that it seemed like Crede was getting a little more agressive at the plate and it was leading to quite a few hard hit singles and what not.

I mean Crede has a lot of clutch hits, but to me he's been kind of improving as of late offensively. I still have loads of faith in this guy, plus its not like I want to see Uribe at 3rd. Hell, I don't even wnat Uribe in the lineup right now. I'm still pissed he's been playing as much as Willie Harris.

Watch out for Crede now, guys! I just got this Crede sig 3 days ago, and I have a feeling it's gonna start making him play better. Kinda like Heads' Ben Davis sig has done to Davis.

Crede has been alot better lately and i'll take that.

He's head and shoulders above Uribe right.

Joe will be fine... :headbang

Not really in the last week crede is hitting .136 and uribe is hitting .133.

So if we put them together we almost have a good hitter  . I'm fine with Joe and I think he still can improve. As far as the development of crede and garland go, I've basically ran out of patience waiting for garland to improve although you never know and something can just click, I still have patience with crede atleast he doesn't make excuses everytime he has a bad game.

It's not even that garland makes excuses it's that every time he talks to the media and they ask him if he needs to change anything or improve on anything he just says oh no i am fine how i am i will stick to what i am doing.

I think Oz said it perfectly.

Good story, as usual, in the Southtown.

Good paper.

I kind of like Joe, but agree with Oz's statements.
