Zook will find another good job somewhere. But if Urban Meyer ends up at Florida, look out. They will be back in the top 5 in no time.

Zook might end up in Utah exchanging with Meyer.

Big 10 #4 = Northwestern

Big 10 #4 = Northwestern

In the Big Ten, as long as there is no more than a 1 game difference, the Bowl can select the lower team.... Also, OSU is 7-4; NW, 6-5.

NW=5-3 in Big 10 games

OSU=4-4 in Big 10 games

NW=#4 in Big 10

NW=5-3 in Big 10 games

OSU=4-4 in Big 10 games

NW=#4 in Big 10

Did you read his post?

Yeah, all the rule does is F with NU as much as possible. Being the smallest school in the conference by far the bowl committees will do whatever possible not to pick the Cats.

NW=5-3 in Big 10 games

OSU=4-4 in Big 10 games

NW=#4 in Big 10

Just a 1 game difference...

The Alamo will bypass NW, in favor of OSU...

The Sun Bowl will bypass NW in favor of Purdue.

The Cats shold make their Detroit reservations.

Did you read his post?

Yes, was just pointing out that NW is the #4 team and should go ahead of OSU. Beat em head 2 head as well. Sheesh!

They would probably be headed to the Music City Bowl because they get the #6 Big Ten team.

Yup, even with Purdue & OSU tied at 4-4 and Purdue beating them, the Alamo Bowl will more than likely take OSU b/c they've never had them before and they have a bigger fan base.

Purdue will go to El Paso b/c they travel better than NW.

Which means it'll be Nashville, not Detroit for NW.

I don't like the term travel better than. NU is by far the smallest school in the Big Ten and they have sold pretty well in their previous bowls. In non BCS games the huge teams (OSU) don't travel as well to bowls like the Alamo. NU may not have as many fans, but they have far fewer alumni.

Even if it isn't an BCS, OSU will still be represented well. They have one of the biggest fanbases (many of whom aren't alumni) and have the second most alumni in the U.S. (at last check, behind Texas). The Alamo Bowl has never had OSU and would jump on the opportunity.

As for Purdue, they outsold UGA in the Capital One Bowl last year, and UGA was only a few hours away, compared to the 16-17 Purdue was. Since the Joe Tiller era started Purdue has gone to 8 bowl games in a row (counting this year) after a horrid stretch, which makes the alumni/fans come out in full force to away games and bowl games.

As much as it would make sense to just assign teams based on their conference records, the Bowl committees get to choose. It's a business for them, so they're going to go with the school that would be the biggest draw.

There have been a few times in the last 20 years or so where there could be a strong case against ND going to the bowl games that selected them, but they were picked for obvious business reasons.

I like NW and hope that they can start building even stronger programs in football and basketball, but for right now, it shouldn't surprise anyone if they get passed by both the Alamo and Sun Bowls.

I've expected it since 2000. That was total bull though. The Cats were Co Big Ten champs with Purdue only and got stuck in the 4th best Big Ten bowl. That should not be allowed. This year, however, I can see it as much as I hate it.

It was funny cuz that outback bowl game was against the cornhuskers and tehy were both highly ranked teams.

Alamo Bowl and yeah Nebraska whooped us. I knew that going in at least.

I agree with you about 2000, that was ridiculous.

i just spoke with some that has knowledge of who the sun bowl may choose. i asked if they had to choose between ucla and northwestern or oregon state and purdue who would they choose? 2 of the 3 top markets in the country or 1 team that would bring a lot of people. its an interesting question

i can not say my source but once i do know something i will share it with you

hey danman this weeks game is on fsn west2 if you have all of the fsn's

Clemson and South Carolina have decided not to accept bowl bids because of the brawl between the 2 teams. I think this may be a bit harsh. If possible, suspend all the players that were throwing punches etc. That shouldn't be the way some seniors end their career.
