Since I'm just now getting to this thread 17 pages into it and have no time or desire to go through the whole thing post by post, I'm assuming this was all just an unfounded rumor?

There's smoke ... still waiting to see if there's any fire.

So we're following the old motto of "Where there is smoke, there is fire" ? Sometimes, where there is smoke, there is nothing but a pothead. Or an arsonist perhaps...

It's simply this, in my opinion, Lee has more value than Castillo.  He's not untouchable.  He may not be on the "3 year board".  But as of today, he has more market (re: trade) value than Castillo.

Just as it's only my opinion that Castillo, while he may not have more value on the open market than Lee, would be more valauble to the Sox. We'll agree to disagree, agreed :cheers

One thing I was asking myself why FLa might want to trade Castillo. I know a prospect Josh Wilson can play both 2b and SS. The question about him going into 2004 was his bat. I think he did pretty well this yr. Maybe they see him taking over in 2005.

Chris Singleton hit .300 for us one season too.

Don't see your point. Singleton was a career .273 hitter. He almost hit .300 for us a second time as well (.298).

Yes, started by some Rashid at the whitesox.com board.

I was comparing Singleton's .300 season to Podsednik's rookie year. Knowing what Singleton became, I feel SP has a chance to do likewise.

Whatchoo talkin bout, Willis?

How many SB doew CS have?? Sp, would be a huge upgrade at the top of the order and on the basepaths.

Rumors I have heard is that the brewers are looking to shop him..WHy not

Not about Castillo...That rumor is not true, think about it. The marlins just resigned this guy to a deal last year, also who going to play 2b for them? And they are looking to cut costs not add, and if they were to add it would be SP since Pavano is leaving. And if they wanted to subtract a INF, it would be Lowell, to put Cabera back to 3b his natural postion.

Okay...

Quite the random argument though.

18 pages, and I scratching my head

I also want say Jim, don't quit posting this stuff. It is exactly what this format is for. I want to second YASNY when he said :fyou to anyone who questioned Jim's integrity over this. Jim has an excellent posting history here. Even if you don't like the guy personally, he has never posted BS here, and he has no reason to start.

I also want to emphasize that people should feel free to post rumors or questions, exactly how Jim did it, and that is as a rumor or as a question.

And other than that, wow that was fun. Hopefully this means the Sox are on the verge of doing something exciting.

Okay...

Maybe. I'll grant you that. There have been a lot of "flash in the pan" type players. Joe Charboneau, Kevin Mass, Mike Caruso, Ron Kittle. Guys that came up, took the league by storm, then gradually faded into oblivion.

Like I mentioned on page 139 of this thread Podsednik stole 70 bases last year while only hitting .244. If he could even put up 2/3s of that total he'd be a major asset in our lineup. Plus I think he's most definitely going to hit for a higher average next year.

Esp hitting in Corrs lite.. that lineup would be great with him at the top and Harris at the bottom..

They could deal him because they need power hitting and have Pierre and LoDuca pencilled in at the top of the order. I could see Castillo being available.

However, if I were the Sox I wouldn't give them Lee or Konerko for Castillo straight up, as I'd be interested in picking up Mota as well. The problem is I don't know how willing the Marlins would be to do that now that they lost Benitez cause I'm assuming Mota is now going to be their closer.

Podsednik is one of the few lead-off men in baseball who, when he gets on first, usually will turn that walk, single, dropped third stike, etc. into a double.

He'd be a hell of alot better at the top of the line-up for a team that plays "Ozzieball" than that waste of space in the line-up called Willie Harris.

Definitely. Florida all but admitted during the '04 campaign that they would not be able to resign Benitiez and that Mota will be their new closer for '05 and beyond.

I forgot about LoDuca being a #2 hitter.

The sox could prob. get a prospect with Castillo for Lee, as he's signed for a few years. Yet PK would be a big stretch for FLA, with him being a FA after 2005. Mota isn't going anywhere. FLa needs him.

Who is going to play 2b then for the Marlins?

Ozzie seems to know the Marlin farm system fairly well as he insisted the Sox get Valdez for Koch. I think that is a very fair statement to make.

god i hope this is true....i would hate to lose c. lee though

seem like an xbox trade to me
