My local station reported a couple days ago the Cards were going to aggressively go after Cora and Eck to shore up the middle of their infield. I get a far amount of NL Central coverage because the Astros are about 300 miles north of me.

so more than likely the only chance the Sox have to get Cora is Joey Cora...more or less. I would bet he will be a Card soon as well then.

Cora and his .246 career batting average don't excite me. Somehow I think Willie Harris can hit that and steal more than 3 bases.

No way we were going to give him a 3 year deal, and St. Louis can offer him a guaranteed starting spot. At least he'll hopefully torment the Cubs now.

We might as well just stay with Harris or go after Cairo. Cairo has a career .273 AVG, but has a low OBP of .327. Cairo is still more consistent than Cora who has a .246 carrer BA. I dont see any reason to go after Cora when we can get Cairo.

Agreed. Looking at Cairo's numbers last season (granted, he had some of the leagues best protection) it's a no brainer.

Disappointing but not surprising, I really hope we can get Alex now.

Why are the Cards going to regret a contract that at most is probably worth 1.5 - 2 mill a year? Especially since they think he's going to do the job next year. Please, maybe a team with a 30 mill payroll would be upset over a deal like that. Rotoworld says some funny things when they rip on teams, but overall I think they are retarded.

Darn those Cardinals. I really wanted Eckstein. Damnit Im pissed. I'm looking to sign Cora now but if all else fails, I'd prefer Grudz. In order, I want (depending by the situation):

 

1) Cora (If we're looking for a 2B/SS)

2) Grudz (If we're looking for a 2B)

3) Cairo (If all else fails)
