God, I feel soooooooooo old right now. I remember .55

I also remember rationing and lines a half a mile long.

So anyways speaking of things that are expensive, me and my sister went to see Wedding Crashers last night, except we went Gold Class style. Basically it's reclining seats, in a movie theater with lots of room, and any food you want delivered at any time to a table seperating your seats, very ooh la la. Anyways, I just went for the Choc Top - Popcorn - Soda triple, the usual treat at the movies. But the people who ordered in front of us in the cure, the total bill came to $90. How the hell, do you spend $90 on food at the movies?

Heck I remember seeing .63 cents before the first Iraq war. Now we are looking at almost 5 times that. :banghead

March 1999 - Chesterton Amoco. Regular at .699 a gallon.

Yesterday - Spring Lake NJ Citgo. Regular at 2.489 a gallon.

So it looks like the teachers in my school district are going on strike. With my HS football team being ranked 32nd nationally and one of the favorites to win state...just greaaaaaat.

You're in Naperville? I was reading about that, and it is a cold blooded move by the school board to shutdown the schools instead of letting them picket.

I wanted the Olympics to be held in Michigan City so they could keep the Olympic flame in the pothole on the 40 yard line of Ames Field.

Have you seen the "New" Ames? It isn't a bad place to see a football game, except they should have put the home section of stands to block the north wind off of the Lake. Other than that it is a real nice place for IN HS football.

Yeah, I know they fixed it up nice. Really took away from the ghettoy feel of the town. Were you around when Marquette built their Athletic Fields next to MCHS (Then Rogers HS)? Do you know what their nickname for the fields was?

I have been past it a million times, but I have never heard the nickname... What is it?

Wasn't there once an old idea of if you wanted to improve your countries economy you just start a war? So...what the f*** is happening here? Is it because this war isn't creating any jobs at all?

Do we need cars to run on gas. My buddy, who is a chemist, claims they can make a car that runs on hydrogen. But there is no money to be had for the oil tycoons in that, so we will never see it. He says the hybrids are bulls*** because it is technology that doesn't need to be there.

Watch out, Kid, you're almost sounding... political?!? :D

Better go lie down, or better yet have a beer until it passes.

There was a pretty good discussion on here a couple weeks back on hybrid vs. hydrogen, and the need for hybrids as a stopgap solution while many serious roadblocks to economically feasible and truly renewable hydrogen power are hopefully addressed.

My wife and I figured out that we're now spending $500 a month between our drives to and from work.

In 1994: Holy s***.

(The fields apparently were constructed quite poorly)

Ya. I haven't really heard much about it other than they were supposed to meet today to try and reach an agreement but it didn't look good.

Mike...seeing as how you live in Michigan City and you probably know your "hood" well, what is the Animal Shelter there like (if you have ever been to it)? We want to adopt another dog and the shelters near my are going dry.

I am not quite sure to be honest. We have all cats, and have dealt almost always with Frieds cat shelter or with Dr Reed, a vet in Porter. My in-laws have always adopted dogs though and they get them somewhere in Porter County, and have had awesome luck. Let me ask my wife or them and get you some info.
