January 24, 200521 yr Great offseason by Kenny, especially getting this guy for only that amount of money. Our lineup looks amazing next year,we can do a little of everything now.
January 24, 200521 yr I finally get through the 9 page thread Great job Kenny .... let's play ball damn it
January 24, 200521 yr I'm too lazy to read the thread but I really hope some of you aren't expecting too much out of them. If this guy can match Willie's .260 .340 then I will be satisfied. I doubt he even sniffs .300 this year.
January 24, 200521 yr while he wont be as good as he was in Japan i think he can do better than what Willie did last year and provide more stolen bases and HR's
January 24, 200521 yr QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) while he wont be as good as he was in Japan i think he can do better than what Willie did last year and provide more stolen bases and HR's Personally. I don't give a s*** about SB's and HR's. If he can be an effective number 2 hitter and play solid defense, he's well worth the investment.
January 24, 200521 yr I think this is a great signing by Kenny - especially at this price - and I think that Iguchi would be fabulous if he hit .290/.350/.440. In fact, he'd be one of the better 2B in the American League, and probably the best in the AL Central if he put up those kind of numbers. Although he's going to have a decline in production, one should remember that he played in one of the better pitcher's parks in the Japanese league....and he's going to the best hitter's park in the American League. That will probably help some of the Japan-US decline. I'm giving Kenny an A+ for the offseason. He met every need the White Sox had - and did it within a modest $75 milion budget. The Twins are the favorites until they are beaten, but I am fairly energized about the chances for this White Sox team.
January 24, 200521 yr Personally. I don't give a s*** about SB's and HR's. If he can be an effective number 2 hitter and play solid defense, he's well worth the investment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't care about homers but I do care about stolen bases from our #2 hitter.
January 24, 200521 yr Sweeeeeet!!! The Sox just got stronger, good deal K-Dub! Oh by the way nice to be apart of this sox forum, cheers to all. - the guy on the coach

January 24, 200521 yr QUOTE(FISK72GOAT @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) - the guy on the coach <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What the hell is this supposed to be... I hope your saying couch. Otherwise it sounds kind of gay...
January 24, 200521 yr If Iguchi can do the little things like a #2 hitter is supposed to do [hit behind the runner, make contact, bunt, steal some bases, hit the ball in the gaps] then he hitting above .280 would be an improvement for the sox. Seeing how Uribe was penciled in as the #2 hitter [and still may be, we'll have to see what ST brings], Iguchi should be expected to hit at least what Uribe did last yr. Whether he does or not who knows. But fans should expect at least that from him.
January 24, 200521 yr It's amazing the confidence all of you have in a guy you've never seen before. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think it just shows how much confidence everyone had in Willie.
January 24, 200521 yr Just like last year, there is no doubt that there will be some months when Harris will hit 0.300. And I am sure Iguchi will have some months too where he will hit 0.300. Ozzie better be able to pull the plug on one of them and play the other at the right time. The question is can Ozzie play them at the right time and bench them at the right time to get an average of 0.280 to 0.300 out of the 2B position If these two 2B can split time (not necessary 50-50 but some ratio that leads to a maximized 2B production) effectively, and we get a great OBP from the 2B position, I bet we will win a lot of games because of the ability of Pods, Iguchi and Harris to steal bases and have speed on the basepaths to go from 1st to 3rd on a bloop hit by Frank, Kong, Dye etc
January 24, 200521 yr Author Honda I dont care if we havent see him. Thing is no one wanted harris to start and ozzie and kenny knew that when they looked at 2b poisiton. Im all for it.
January 24, 200521 yr i for one wanted Harris to start.... he reminds me of Rowand kind of in never getting his fair chance to take the starting job, Rowand finally got his the ? still remains if Willie ever will get his.
January 24, 200521 yr Wow, great f***in job kenny. Lineup as of now without frank: pods iguchi dye pauly everett rowand aj uribe crede Wow, that's one deep lineup.
January 24, 200521 yr Can somebody tell me if Iguchi bats left, right, or switch? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's a pure righty. Click on my sig for details on Iguchi.

January 24, 200521 yr QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jan 24, 2005 -> 03:00 PM) He's a pure righty. Click on my sig for details on Iguchi. yeah I saw it on your sig. I'll check that out.
January 24, 200521 yr I'm on the record that a Harris/Valdez/Uribe triple platoon at 2B/SS would be cheaper, better defensively, and probably produce at the same rate as Iguchi at second.
