March 2, 200521 yr I was watching Comcast and they mentioned that the Sox were trying a out a 23-year old Korean pitcher who throws in the low to mid 90's, and as high as 97. They said he was comparable to a healthy Chan Ho Park. Anyone know any more about this, maybe the guys name?

March 2, 200521 yr If he is anything like Chan-Ho before his injuries, you sign him and you sign him quickly. Even if he doesn't pan out, a minor leauge contract isn't going to bury you. Best case scenario: he impresses in the minors and can contribute at the major league level. Worst case scenario: some very nice PR, but ultimately, you lose the gamble and have to eat a minor league contract. Roll the dice.

Since he's been on military service for 4 years, he won't have much wear and tear on his arm at the moment, which can only be a good thing. Good to see the Sox thinking outside the box, and the Asian connection working again for them.

Moon threw to Man Soo Lee, the White Sox bullpen catcher, who is considered a Korean baseball legend. Although the 23-year-old Moon was a bit wild, with two early pitches sailing over Lee's head and getting stuck in the chain-link support fence, he was able to throw the ball in the low-to-mid-90s. He also featured a split-finger and slider, according to Lee. No decision had been made as of Tuesday afternoon on whether the White Sox would sign him to a minor league contract.

March 2, 200521 yr Seems like a worthwhile minor league investment. Obviosly he's a project, but he's got a good arm and this is after not pitching in a couple years.

March 2, 200521 yr If they sign this guy chances are great he'd be in extended spring training, and then start at a lower level with the goal of maybe ending up at AA later in the year. He hasn't pitched competitively for 4 years. Double A is a major stretch.

JR: Nope, Just bring over some more of them there Asians, the fans eat it up! 23 awesome stuff and people aren't bidding over him? This is crap. Don't get your hopes up for this guy.
