Eh....

I'd rather keep William.

Wes Helms: Fat, Hick,Bad. Back up to Crede. We can do better than Helms can't we?

Wes Helms (2004):

G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI TB BB SO SB CS OBP SLG AVG

92 274 24 72 13 1 4 28 99 24 60 0 1 .331 .361 .263

That's nauseating.

Where does he play?

can Wes play 2b and 3b? if so the sox should do it. ive never been a fan of Willie

:gosox1:

I don't buy it unless they are going to move Crede for a starting SS so Uribe can take the utility role he is most suited for. Has Crede tee'd anybody off at camp, or is there a real good SS out there I don't know about?

Wes Helms is a backup 3rd baseman at best. And he's not even good at that.

There's not really a fit here at all. Plus Helms is a Ned Yost favorite, so it's unlikely he'll sanction a move. I still want Cintron.

I don't think Cintron is available at this time. Arizona has him penciled in for the primary backup infield job ... which is a smart move by them. They signed Clayton and Counsell, neither of which are young.

Things can change throught the course of spring training though.

possible back up infielders:marco scutaro(oak) Alex Cintron(ari) Hector Luna(StL) Placido Ploanco(Phi) thats about all i can think of and im sure we would probably have to give up willie and someone else for one of these guys.

I would love that trade but the Diamondbacks would assuredly have other thoughts.

I am just wondering if it's a surprise to anyone that Harris' name is mentioned in rumors like this. I am not.

Some of us have said all along it is just a matter of time before he's dealt, unless something crazy happens to Iguchi.

Helms is a Yost favorite because they were both together in Atlanta basically. And he thinks he can have a comeback year.

No, Jim, I don't really think this came as a suprise to anyone that has been monitoring the boards or the team's activity within the past two or three months. The suprise, however, comes when a deal is rumored to involve Wes Helms.

That's just a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. Don't get rid of Willie just because you feel pressured to make the change. The punk has value. Dare I say, much more value than Wes Helms.

Someone is lurking, please share your thoughts with the class, as if we didn't already know what they are :D

He did hit 23 HR for him in '03.

Sounds like our disappointment for your disappointment to me...

Exactly, I think Helms may have been overweight last season, but there were some factors for him not having a good season, and Yost thinks he can have an 03 like year, Miller Park is a hitters park and the lineup will have more protection with Carlos Lee in it as well.

If Guillen is insisting on a righthanded bat off the bench, it makes sense. Trying to look at it from Guillen's point of view.

Ahhh geez, someone is typing now.

Jim, As we have chatted many times. Willie will be gone by the end of camp. The whitesox hope he does well that way they can trade him. In addition, and as you know, I have always hated Diaz, I will find it interesting how many people on this board jump completely off his bandwagon especially if adkins goes back down to be a starter and BMAC coming on strong.

Guillen's point of view could be made into an ESPN behind the scenes look into the seedy underbelly of misguided MLB managers and their teams, OutMakers.
