Tigers DH Dimitri Young on the Yankees: “I can’t stand the Yankees. I could care less about them. They don’t wear facial hair. I would never play for that team. I won’t shave. You can print that: I’ll never play for the Yankees.”

You said something smart for once.

"Phils designate Adams for assignment"

http://philadelphia.phillies.mlb.com/NASAp...t=.jsp&c_id=phi

MIAMI -- Terry Adams said recently that he came to the park every day looking over his shoulder, a symptom of a veteran struggling mightily.

After his latest in a season of ineffective outings on Tuesday, the Phillies designated the reliever for assignment, and purchased the contract of Amaury Telemaco.

Adams, 32, was 0-2 with a 12.83 ERA in 16 relief appearances for the Phillies. His last appearance came Tuesday against the Marlins at Dolphins Stadium, where he allowed one run in 1/3 of an inning. After that outing, Adams sat for a long time in the visitors clubhouse, staring at a blank television screen.

"Indians place Millwood on DL"

http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/NASApp/ml...t=.jsp&c_id=cle

CLEVELAND -- Manager Eric Wedge sounded concerned when he spoke Wednesday night about pitcher Kevin Millwood's injured groin. Wedge had reason for concern.

The injury has forced the Indians to put Millwood on the 15-day disabled list Thursday, and the Tribe will bring up left-hander Brian Tallet from Triple-A Buffalo to fill Millwood's spot in the rotation.

Millwood sustained the injury during his outing Wednesday against the Twins. He was working in the fifth inning when he felt discomfort in his groin area. He was unable to complete the inning.

In the clubhouse afterward, Millwood said he wasn't concerned about the injury, although he admitted it didn't come at the best of times.

"It's just frustrating, because I feel like I'm finally getting to where I want to be," he said. "I'm throwing the ball well, and (Wednesday) was the night I needed to go deep into the game to give our bullpen a rest.

"Getting an injury like this and making those guys go out there for, I guess, five-something innings didn't help."

Millwood becomes the fourth Indians player on the disabled list. Coco Crisp went on the DL a couple of weeks ago, and Juan Gonzalez and Jason Stanford have been on the disabled list all season. Both are rehabbing from injuries.

"Notes: Javy needs surgery

O's catcher will be out at least six weeks"

http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/NASApp/ml...t=.jsp&c_id=bal

BALTIMORE -- Orioles catcher Javy Lopez will have surgery to insert a plate in his broken right hand. He could resume baseball activities in about six weeks.

Lopez was hit on the hand by a Bret Boone foul tip in the third inning of Tuesday's 3-2 win over Seattle. He was examined by hand specialist Dr. Mark Deitch, who told Lopez he could either have surgery and reduce rehabilitation time by two weeks or just wear a cast.

"Orioles place Bedard on DL"

http://baltimore.orioles.mlb.com/NASApp/ml...t=.jsp&c_id=bal

BALTIMORE -- The Orioles' continued to be clipped by injuries as it was revealed Thursday that sparkling left-hander Erik Bedard has a strained medial collateral ligament in his left knee and will be placed on the disabled list later Thursday night.

Bedard, one of the league's hottest pitchers and the Orioles' top starter, apparently has been dealing with the injury for some time and finally it became too painful to continue.

"He's got a strain and when he goes to push off, it hurts when he puts pressure on it," executive vice president Jim Beattie said hours before the Orioles' game with the Seattle Mariners. "It's been bothering him for a while and he's been getting treatment. And in the bullpen the other day, it felt worse that's it ever felt. And after talking to him, we felt like we should shut him down for a couple of starts."

Oriole's Roberts To Undergo MRI

Orioles | Roberts To Undergo MRI - from www.KFFL.com

Fri, 3 Jun 2005 03:44:01 -0700

Updating an ongoing story, The Washington Post's Jorge Arangure Jr. reports Baltimore Orioles 2B Brian Roberts (rotator cuff) traveled to Baltimore June 2 to have his strained right rotator cuff examined by team orthopedist Charles Silberstein. The team should know more about the severity of the injury after the MRI. "The fact is if it doesn't improve I wanted to make sure we weren't missing anything," Orioles trainer Richie Bancells said. "When it was apparent he wasn't playing Thursday and, in my mind, the next couple of days, it was the best thing to do."

Wow. Can it get any worse for them?

"Giants trade Herges

Receive Minor League OF Doug DeVore from D-Backs"

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb

NEW YORK -- Right-handed reliever Matt Herges, designated for assignment by the Giants last Sunday, joined his fifth Major League team Friday after a trade to the Arizona Diamondbacks for Minor League outfielder Doug DeVore, who was assigned to Triple-A Fresno, and cash considerations.

The 35-year-old Herges had hoped to land with another club and said he was grateful the team didn't release him outright. He had previously played for Los Angeles, Montreal and San Diego.

Herges performed well in the bullpen as a setup man when acquired from San Diego in July of 2003, then served as closer for the first half of last season when Robb Nen's shoulder gave out, saving 23 games before apparent fatigue cost him that job.

The five-year veteran also struggled this year, going 1-1 with a 4.71 ERA with a relief corps in disarray following the loss of closer Armando Benitez, who tore hamstring tendons in his right leg in late April.

DeVore, 27, is a left-handed batter who has always hit well in the Minor Leagues but batted only .224 last season with the Diamondbacks over 50 games. He has decent power and can play all outfield spots.

This year for Triple-A Tucson, he was hitting .289 with seven homers and 32 RBIs. Oddly enough, Fresno was slated to play in Tucson Friday night.

here is a rumour I found today from the Minneapolis StarTribune

--

No on Polanco

The Twins recently had preliminary discussions with Philadelphia concerning second baseman Placido Polanco, who is batting .295 and is scheduled to make $4.6 million this season. Those discussions never developed because the Phillies requested players such as reliever Jesse Crain and top pitching prospects Scott Baker and Francisco Liriano in return.

Punto's injury should not force the Twins to revisit the situation because they loved what they saw recently in the field from Punto and shortstop Juan Castro. And Punto was proving to be a functional offensive player.

Neifi Perez just hit a homer and a Padre fan threw it back and Brenly jokingly says, "They should throw that fan out for throwing an object on the field." Pot calling the kettle black!

Ouch. That's pretty damn steep for a guy that isn't a full-time starter.

Ouch. That's pretty damn steep for a guy that isn't a full-time starter.

He posted .289/.352/.447 and .298/.345/.441 lines with 14 and 17 HRs the last two seasons, while playing great defense.

This season he's .305/.363/.409 in 150+ ABs...

For comparisons sake, what would you be asking for if we were to trade Tadahito, who's esentially exactly what polanco is... .301/.350/.454

If this is true KW needs to get his ass in on this...

New York Post (scroll down): "Met officials believe first base is a likely area to upgrade if they are contenders come July. One name to watch is Milwaukee's Lyle Overbay, who will be coveted by many teams."

Overbay = f***ing huge pricetag
