qwerty
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) Probably cause he has about a .370 obp when leading off. It is actually higher but not because he is taking walk... he is hitting his way on. You cannot go by his small sample size. He is not a lead-off hitter... he will not take alot of pitches to help see every pitch in a pitchers arsenal. One walk in about 45 at-bats lead-off? No thank you. southsideirish71
AJ is a perfect example 2004 BA .272 OBP .313 2003 BA .312 OBP .360 2002 BA .300 OBP.334 He averaged 11 homers This year he is Batting .247 with a .297 OBP. But already in July he has 12 homers a new career high. Now maybe he is just hitting them right at them all the time, or maybe he is just having a down year. Or maybe he signed a lower dollar amount contract and if he puts up say 20 homers he will get more moola after this year in arbitration. They need to move the fences back. This place can take any good hitter and make them a go for homer only hitter.
