July 29, 200520 yr QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) I agree. All these surgeries and recorvery time, plus the risk of re-injury. It may be time for The Hurt to call it a career, unfortunately. Then let the HOF debates begin. Its ironic that a HOF thread got bumped today. People might want to start looking at making reservations for Cooperstown in 2010.

I'm spamming this thread lol, but this guy's basically reponsible for me liking the Sox. I know I'll be there. I can guarantee that.
July 29, 200520 yr QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:43 PM) 1 injury to Frank has killed 2 of our seasons........well Maggs was hurt last year too. Basically 2 injuries have killed 2 seasons, wow. This season is killed?

I can guarantee that. ^ same goes for me and most of the guys our age on here. First season i remember is 1993, the sox were the talk of the town, the cubs were not. Therefore little steve = sox fan.
July 29, 200520 yr To me, the team does not need more power, it needs somebody who can do what Frank did at his best ... make the opposing pitcher work his ass off and draw a bunch of walks in the process. They need a guy who has got a good eye at the plate more than anything. There are a few out there and KW will have to overpay. Which is exactly what he should do at this juncture.

July 29, 200520 yr From last month: QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) WHEN he is voted into the HOF I will be there for the ceremony, I gaurentee that. I will find a way to fly out to Cooperstown. I've watched this guy play my entire life, he's been my favorite ball player for as long as I can remember and that moment when he is recognized for his accomplishments I will be there to share in the moment.
July 29, 200520 yr i feel really bad for frank. if we were to go one and win the world series it would suck if he wasnt a part of it.

So we should try to pry Kevin Youkalis off of the Red Sox? He is the Greek God of Walks, you know.
July 29, 200520 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) Get well Big man and we will see you in 2006. i think this might be Thomas' last hoorah with the Sox. 3.5 million buy out or 10 million for a broken down DH. Unfortunately as Jim Morrison would say "This is the end"
July 29, 200520 yr QUOTE(soxfan3530 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) i feel really bad for frank. if we were to go one and win the world series it would suck if he wasnt a part of it. He certainly was part of it though. He certainly made this team better for the time he was here. However, I'm glad that we don't have to rely on just Frank anymore. The White Sox are now a good TEAM.
July 29, 200520 yr This season is killed? That is perhaps exaggerating, but it will be much more difficult to advance in the playoffs without: a) Acquiring a middle of the order bat. or B) Carl Everett playing like Carl Everett circa 2000, Jermaine Dye playing like the Jermaine Dye of the last two months (aka .900+ OPS) for the rest of the season, or some equally unlikely development.
July 29, 200520 yr I think we've seen the last of Frank Thomas in a Sox uniform, or any uniform for that matter. Hope he's salted away some money. He never earned Sammy Sosa big bucks, and he's a much better hitter, competitor, and human being. I'll take Frank in his prime over a juiced up Sosa any day. I'll take the injury prone Frank of the last few years too. I'm glad Frank played for my team and Sosa played for the cute adorable ones. I just don't think he'll be back. You could see he was really laboring this year, and was still able to put up formidable power numbers. He better be a first ballot HOFer.

I hope he would feel as if he contributed, because he certainly did, there's no denying that. The Sox averaged nearly a run better per game when he was in the lineup, and extended their division lead eight games after he returned.

This definitely requires getting a bat. Our offense needs a boost. I'll take Huff or Overbay in the middle of the order.

July 29, 200520 yr I'm gonna go back and read the rest of this thread, but I first wanted to say that I wish they hadn't reported this until after the deadline. That kind of seems like the obvious thing to do.
July 29, 200520 yr I really am going to miss that big f***er! He and Robin were the 2 that made me a Sox fan -- this blows
