I agree.  All these surgeries and recorvery time, plus the risk of re-injury.  It may be time for The Hurt to call it a career, unfortunately.

I'm spamming this thread lol, but this guy's basically reponsible for me liking the Sox. I know I'll be there. I can guarantee that.

1 injury to Frank has killed 2 of our seasons........well Maggs was hurt last year too.  Basically 2 injuries have killed 2 seasons, wow.

First season i remember is 1993, the sox were the talk of the town, the cubs were not.

Therefore little steve = sox fan.

To me, the team does not need more power, it needs somebody who can do what Frank did at his best ... make the opposing pitcher work his ass off and draw a bunch of walks in the process.

 

They need a guy who has got a good eye at the plate more than anything. There are a few out there and KW will have to overpay. Which is exactly what he should do at this juncture.

WHEN he is voted into the HOF I will be there for the ceremony, I gaurentee that. I will find a way to fly out to Cooperstown. I've watched this guy play my entire life, he's been my favorite ball player for as long as I can remember and that moment when he is recognized for his accomplishments I will be there to share in the moment.

He certainly was part of it though. He certainly made this team better for the time he was here. However, I'm glad that we don't have to rely on just Frank anymore. The White Sox are now a good TEAM.

That is perhaps exaggerating, but it will be much more difficult to advance in the playoffs without:

 

a) Acquiring a middle of the order bat.

 

or

 

B) Carl Everett playing like Carl Everett circa 2000, Jermaine Dye playing like the Jermaine Dye of the last two months (aka .900+ OPS) for the rest of the season, or some equally unlikely development.

I think we've seen the last of Frank Thomas in a Sox uniform, or any uniform for that matter. Hope he's salted away some money. He never earned Sammy Sosa big bucks, and he's a much better hitter, competitor, and human being. I'll take Frank in his prime over a juiced up Sosa any day. I'll take the injury prone Frank of the last few years too. I'm glad Frank played for my team and Sosa played for the cute adorable ones. I just don't think he'll be back. You could see he was really laboring this year, and was still able to put up formidable power numbers. He better be a first ballot HOFer.

I hope he would feel as if he contributed, because he certainly did, there's no denying that. The Sox averaged nearly a run better per game when he was in the lineup, and extended their division lead eight games after he returned.
