See Tony, I don't b**** ALL the time! It really is something that we're seemingly forgetting about. A lot of these teams trying to make trades are doing so just to have a chance to make the playoffs. Most of these teams would trade every single prospect they had in order to get a lead as big as the Sox have right now. Maybe it's just me, but I never saw the point of trading for another starting pitcher. We have our main 3 guys, and those are the pitchers who deserve to start in the playoffs IF we get there. If we don't make it, we don't deserve to.

Plan on the Sox giving BMac, Gio, Anderson, Sweeney, and Fields for just Huff. That way, when the Sox part with just 3-4 top prospects for Huff and Baez it will seem less shocking.

Im with you on this one. There will be people compaining left and right. Too many prospects given up, no deals done, the deal doesnt improve the team, we didnt get the right guy, etc. Brace yourselves...

Should be an interesting day, exciting or not, but interesting at least.

I think another starter could have been helpful down the stretch, but IMO, would have been nice for the future. While it's all about this year, and well it should, I am still looking ahead, and a guy like Burrnet I would have been happy to have taking Jose's spot in the rotation for the next 3 years, but it just wasn't in the cards.

 

 

Here's the thing: there wasn't a chance in hell Burnett was going to sign here. Thus, I'm happy we didn't trade for him.

In this market, Huff is the biggest blockbuster middle of the order guy you could get that wouldn't set your team back financially for years to come.

Yup, same thought crossed my mind. As if this stuff already wasn't driving me nuts but having a game the same time as the expiring deadline would have been hard to handle.
