July 31, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 07:49 AM) Since Manny's most likely staying put, Huff's probably the best player possibly out there. Huff and Soriano.
July 31, 200520 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 02:20 AM) An official statement from both teams. Considering what time it is right now, it would likely be done in the morning. How often do you see trades completed at 3:20AM EST? Maybe shingo
July 31, 200520 yr If the Sox get Blum his nickname should be "the heating-pad" because I think the reason KW would get him is so Crede can rest his back more often and not have Ozuna attempt to play 3b
July 31, 200520 yr Padres official site says the following, after the Miguel Olivo trade announcement: "After announcing the deal for the 27-year-old Olivo, who caught regularly for the White Sox in 2003, Padres general manager Kevin Towers indicated his club could have another deal done by the trade deadline on Sunday afternoon but it would not be a major swap." Certainly lends credence to this rumor. Also remember Blum played in Tampa and they liked him there, is it possible he gets moved twice today, maybe as a piece for Huff?
July 31, 200520 yr QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) Yeah, I was shocked how people on here were upset that the Red Sox might get Huff. Especially after Manny kicked our ass last weekend, I'd be thrilled to see him gone. And that great defence. :sleep

I have been listening all morning.
July 31, 200520 yr Maybe the deal will be Blum and Olivo.... Gives us a backup catcher with a better arm then Widger... Maybe they got him at KW's request...
July 31, 200520 yr QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 08:50 AM) actaully Jim Blum fits the back up role here, but interesting that nobody local picked this up. I have been listening all morning. It's Jeff or Geoff Blum, not Jim.

July 31, 200520 yr It's Jeff or Geoff Blum, not Jim. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> quickman is talking to me directly here, my name is Jim, hence the JimH moniker.

Who are you? I was responding to JimH. I realize I am not the best poster, but please look before you type.

July 31, 200520 yr Please don't give me a paragragh of stats. Its useless to me. The Olivio thing is done with the Sox.Time to get over it.

Maybe they got him at KW's request... LOL. Better arm, worse game calling, and horribly bad average. Yeah, lets get rid of Widger as the backup. What a great idea!!!

July 31, 200520 yr The Olivio thing <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are we talking about Laurence Olivio, the actor?
July 31, 200520 yr QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) Are we talking about Laurence Olivio, the actor? I wish we were talking about Tony Olivio.
July 31, 200520 yr I wish we were talking about Tony Olivio. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I bet at age 64 he still hits better than Willie Harris.
July 31, 200520 yr If it means Thug-Life Willie Harris is off the 25 man roster...why the worries? I bring this one out from time to time:
July 31, 200520 yr QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 09:27 AM) If it means Thug-Life Willie Harris is off the 25 man roster...why the worries? I bring this one out from time to time: haah yeah im sure this is just because they might either be trading willie, as george offman said would happen by the deadline, or hes just gonna bump willie to charlotte. either way i think the reaosn many people are disappointed is that they are expecting a bigger deal and are hoping this aint the only deal that happens
July 31, 200520 yr QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) Nothing like another low BA, low OBP guy for the team. I agree
July 31, 200520 yr QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) Maybe the deal will be Blum and Olivo.... Gives us a backup catcher with a better arm then Widger... Maybe they got him at KW's request... Not a chance in hell. Widger's a good defensive catcher, Olivo isnt.
July 31, 200520 yr Author QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 04:35 PM) Not a chance in hell. Widger's a good defensive catcher, Olivo isnt. Ozzie and the pitchers hated Olivo. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I have a feeling the new testing in baseball hurt Olivo.
