Are you a personal friend of Marte?  The dude is supposed to be a lefty specialist.  WHY CAN'T HET GET LEFTIES OUT?  Marte has been average to below average for a while now.  It's not like this was his first bad performance in a while.

 

I never recall marte being a lefty specialist. He was one of the rare lefties out of the pen that could get both lefties and righties out at a ridiculous rate.

We will get swept in the playoffs if ozzie continues this sort of managing the last two years now. He is beyond ridiculous. He has to look at f***ing splits and realize realize marte is far superior verse righties than lefties. He also has to realize cotts has been far superior against both righties and lefties than marte has this year. But ozzie does not look at stats... therefore the problems with the pen.

No kidding. It's real simple with Marte. The only pitch he can use effectively now is his high fastballs to righty hitters. If he throws that same pitch to a lefty, it ends up hitting/brushing back the lefty hitter. His slider against lefties is awful now, as he has to hang it to throw it for a strike.

What is this problem of which you speak? We have the second best bullpen ERA in the league and the best save % in the league. Ozzie makes some dumb moves from time to time, but with numbers like those, he's doing something right.

You can get away with stupidity like that against the Royals.  But against the A's,  Yankees,  Red Sox,  Angels?  I think not.

 

He's done similar things against the Yankees, Red Sox, and Angels this year, and Marte needed to be bailed out by another reliever or the Sox offense in the next inning.
