Lets tip our hats to Byrd

Featured Replies

He pitched a helluva game tonight

Lets regroup an get them tomorrow

No way. Not to him. We beat ourselves with mental mistakes and a lack of execution. It's one thing to lose, but Byrd didn't beat us enough for a 'tip the cap' deal.

i agree. lets get to Washburn and lets hope he's not 100%

No, lets not.

Im not going to be a pessemist here, because the Sox have done too much right so far this season and post season to do a complete 180, but I is clearly evident to everyone here, except maybe you that Byrd did not pitch that well tonight.

Our hitters just did not get the job done when they were supposed to, plain and simple.

well he obviously did enough

Good argument.

I fail to congratulate a mediocre pitcher hanging half of his pitches within the zone.

Bartolo Colon, Ervin Santana, or John Lackey does this it's understandable. Paul f***ing Byrd? No.

I feel the same way. Early in the game they were swinging at every piece of garbage that Byrd threw.

Tip your hat to Byrd over on an Angels board. Even if he was awesome and threw a no hitter, I am not going to say, Wow Mr. Byrd, I really admire your pitching.

*cough*sorelosers*cough

We got our asses beat tonight. This "we lost, they didn't win" bulls*** is ridiculous. BoSox fans said the same s*** and I'm not going to turn into some smarmy pompous sore loser ass Red Sox fan.

They beat us. They did the s*** they needed to do to win the game. We didn't. We'll still win the series.

I'll tip my hat, but I'd sooner see him hit by a bus.

Plus we spent a lot of the year complaining about "corpseball" and us not scoring runs. And we still won 99 games.

So now that we don't score enough runs it's something new that we didn't do? We've been doing this all year and still winning games. This is the way we play. They play the much the same way. The beat us at it tonight.

:cheers :cheers :drink :headbang :snr

I tip my cap to him. What did we get? a handful of hits.

But I agree with you all. We could have beaten da bum and should have.

He ain't no Roger Clemens.

I may be a glutton for punishment but I hope we get to face him again.

If he beats us twice in a series, I'll be surprised.

we sucked.

they won.

Angels lead 1-0.

Play ball...

You go ahead. If I hear the word "crafty" one more time I'm gonna puke!

How bout if I do this....I'll have "W" give the bird to Byrd!

I agree. Sorry to tell you guys, but Byrd BEAT us...you can call it lack of execution, mistakes, etc...but I watched the game, and his pitches were dynamite, they had tremendous break, and he wasn't floating them over the middle. I don't care if you throw 88mph, if you can do what he did, you can win some games.

I don't mind beating beat. I mind losing. We didn't lose that game, we were beat. Straight up.

Sorry to sound like a sore loser, but I will not tip my cap to Byrd. His pitching was above average and totally beatable. When you beat yoursleves at the plate, on the bases and in the field, you will lose to the Paul Byrds every time.

I didn't read the gamethread, but were there a lot of complaints about the Sox trying to pull everything last night? PK and Rowand had some real pathetic ABs earlier in the game when they pulled off the ball so much, they hit cue shots to the right side of the infield.

And somehow the pitcher that made the at bats look pathetic had nothing to do with it. I guess the Angels may have well put me out there because it just didn't even matter.

The White Sox are 0-0-1 in this series. The new category is for "games we beat ourlselves" so it really shouldn't even count.

The Sox screwed up 3 bunt attempts, Crede didn't go to first on the nubber when he should have, Crede doesn't know what a hit-and-run is, Uribe still has no idea how to run the bases, and all of the boppers were swinging for the fences. It's a shame, too, since PK would've gotten at least $1 million more per year had he hit a homer later in the game.

Take it easy, no one is suggesting that. A loss is a loss, period. The title and original point of this thread is let's tip our cap to Byrd. Sorry, I won't do it.

I just can't give that much credit to Byrd. I can only think of a couple of good pitches he made, the rest was us swinging at crap or missing hittable junk. We clearly suffered from poor exectution tonight. There were just so many plays where we couldn't come through. Dye and Paulie both stranded two runners to end an inning, Pods getting a bunt down would have meant Uribe scores on Dye's single, plus there were numerous other moments that were mentioned. We just looked a bit rusty, and hopefully we can get out of it. I don't think the Angels can beat us if we execute. Lackey should really be the only guy that can shut us down. We just didn't execute in the first game.

Oh, and Pods should stop trying to steal bases, at least 2nd. You can't do it anymore, stop f***ing trying.

what are you talking about... not like it was his fault... it was a pitch out and if it is any other catcher behind the plate he probably could have stolen second last nite. s*** AJ almost Got Second Base Off molina... Stealing bases is what got us here... and that's what is going to win this series...
