Sweetest Female Vocals

Featured Replies

I was listening to some Carpenters, Dionne Warwick, and Petula Clark and it got me thinking, which female singer has the sweetest voice? Not looking for Pat Benatar power, just a sweet sound.

It is hard to top Miss Carpenter IMHO.

I always loved Gwen Stefani's voice from back in the hayday of No Doubt.

Now adays, not so much but at one time she had an absolutely beautiful singing voice.

WoW!

Texans no less . . .

shes a bad ass

make sure to listen to the last song there tex... it shows off her voice the most.

Aimee Mann. Plus she is an unbelievable song writer.

Alicia Keys and Joss Stone. I refuse to pick one, and they are both spectacular.

Patty Andrews. :D Though Maxene was the cutest.

Ann-Margret...hubba hubba...

Shakira and Mariah Carey have always had such strong voices and sweet sounding as well...IMO Not to mention the overall range in both of their voices...

Courtney Love. Oh, maybe not.

I agree for pure sweetness, probably Karen Carpenter is tops. Best set of pipes ever...Arlene Smith of The Chantels ("Maybe" and "The Plea").

Beyonce, Amy Lee (lead singer from Evanescence), and Mya.

I forgot about Carly Simon  How James Taylor could choose drugs over her :headshake

Not sure about "sweetest", but both Bjork and Kate Bush have two of the most interesting voices around.

I have always liked Natalie Merchant...

Not necessarily a "sweet" voice, but I think there's no better female singer than Annie Lennox.

Hope Sandoval from Mazzy Star

Petula Clark

She is my dad's favorite female singer. My mom's favorite is either Patsy Cline or Loretta Lynn (she likes Petula Clark as well though).
