December 19, 200520 yr QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) Good deal, considering what Ramon Hernandez got (4-years, $27.5 million). AJ better stop swinging for the fences though. I'd rather have the Pierzynski who hit less homers but put up a .290 AVG and .330 OBP. I'd rather have the playoff AJ.
December 19, 200520 yr It's up at WhiteSox.com: White Sox reward Pierzynski Once a nomad, catcher finds home with three-year deal http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws Pierzynski, who turns 29 on December 30, agreed to terms on a three-year, $15 million contract Monday, avoiding arbitration. The deal reduces the White Sox arbitration-eligible pool of players to Jon Garland, Joe Crede, Rob Mackowiak, Willie Harris and Timo Perez, with Garland, Crede and Mackowiak figuring to be offered arbitration. Once eligible to become a free agent after the 2006 season, Pierzynski now will earn $4 million in 2006 and $5.5 million in each of 2007 and 2008.

If I had to pick I'd pick that one, but I would prefer the AJ who hits with power to merge with the .300 hitting AJ and form one super-duper-monster-Pierzynski
December 19, 200520 yr 3yr $15M, seems kind of low to me. He must like it here. $4M this year $5.5M the next two. Thome makes more this season. Great deal.

December 19, 200520 yr Sweet! Very psyched. AJ was such a key cog in the machine in 2005. And the numbers don't tell the story, either - his game-calling, pitcher-handling and dugout-hollering were all huge elements. Nice job KW!!! In the words of a great poet... HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY... JOY JOY JOY...

December 19, 200520 yr Awesome. Very fair deal, imo. I think he's better than Hernandez who just signed a deal worth like 7 mill a year with the Orioles. I'm really happy to know that AJ will be on the southside for a while longer.
December 19, 200520 yr Bobby better make sure he's working out...end of October next year he's gonna have a big man to lift into the air again.
December 19, 200520 yr Paid a little more than I thought I saw 3yr 12 mil package .......I like AJ and glad he is back but may have overpaid a little.
December 19, 200520 yr FYI, if my calcs are correct, we now have a currently-contracted payroll of 78.8M. The players still left out there that aren't officially signed to my knowledge are Garland (ARB, made 3.4M in 2005) Crede (ARB, made .4M in 2005) Jenks (rookie status) Harris (ARB, made .365M in 2005, may not stick) Cotts (made .33M in 2005) McCarthy (rookie status) One of Perez/Borchard/Owens (Perez made $1M in 2005) Anyone we pick up before the season starts. I assumed that Anderson was in at 330k. Edited December 19, 200520 yr by NorthSideSox72
